Sierra Vet is a wonderful place with a staff that clearly cares about animals. Whenever I bring my golden retriever or cats in, Dr. Monroe is gentle yet thorough when treating them. The office staff is kind and professional and always willing to do whatever they can to fit me in when I need a last minute appointment. In addition to the routine care of my dog and cats, a few years we had the unfortunate experience of having to put down a fairly young cat. Dr. Monroe and his staff were incredibly kind and empathetic. As sad as we were, it was so comforting to have the procedure handled with such grace and care. We are very lucky to have such a great vet in Tahoe!
Dr. Monroe and his staff at Sierra Veterinary Hospital are fantastic! I was a new pet owner and did not have the first idea about caring for my cat Fresno. They not only gave Fresno the necessary care she needed, they were so good about teaching me how to be the best pet owner possible. Their pricing was reasonable and their staff was extremely knowledgable. I have also referred friends to SVH who have been in Tahoe on vacation with their dogs and needed emergency care... and they have all raved about Dr. Monroe and his team. You won't find people who love your pets more than you... than Sierra Vet!!
I took my golden retriever to Sierra Vet for her annual exam. I arrived for my appointment, greeted by people who obviously love animals. We were taken into an exam room immediately, Dr. Monroe entered shortly after our arrival. He was fantastic in the way he examined my dog. He answered all my questions and offered extensive information on the care of my dog and what to watch for as my dog grew up. My entire experience was not only professional but very friendly and courteous. I will definitely return.
Wow is all I can say. This is one of the best animal hospitals I've been to. I have a 9 year old Black Lab and 3 year old Great Dane..Both of my dogs have had pretty major surgeries; (my lab has torn both ACL's in her hind lags, and my Dane was hit by a car and ended up with a broken femur). They have both recovered with amazing results. All the staff seemed to go out of their way to help, and I felt like family there not just a customer. I will not take my pets anywhere else! these guys rock!. Thanks, Dr. Monroe, Dr. Turner, Dr Sjolin and all the staff YOU ARE THE BEST!..
When I was born my family already had a 2 year old dog. So, I have had dogs my whole life and taking care of them is second nature. I'm almost 40 now and that means I have been to many Vets in my life. Never once did I have anything like the experience I had here. I have a Red-Nose Pit; or Staffordshire Terrier if you prefer. I got him when he was 10 months. He had been abandoned by some sick Vegans and all I know is that he was fed vegetarian (?!) for the first 6 months of his life, beyond that I know little. I know he was attacked by a large pit when he was very little and has a scar on his face. He was very poorly trained when I got him, and he almost hurt me badly once pulling me down a flight of wet stairs. So, after he chewed his harness, I bought a choke chain. In Marin County you can't find a harness for less than $40.00 at Petco. Never approving of the choker I didn't know what else to do. It was a stop-gap measure to try to keep him from pulling me off my balance. He is crazy-strong even for a pit and I'm not a small guy. The Asian Lady said the Dr. wanted to examine him alone (?), I've never been asked that and never in almost 40 years been treated like I'm some criminal or animal abuser or something; I went to listen at the door because this being a first for me, I was very suspicious, I only had taken him in for a weird looking skin-flap on his paw, there wasn't anything else wrong with him. I could hear them talking about his choke-chain and I had to tell them the story above about him almost breaking my neck on some stairs. He has a new harness now, thanks Wal-Mart in Eureka $7.00. But, they made me very uncomfortable and angry. But perhaps someone else will have a different experience here...
