I brought my dog here of course in the middle of the night. I'm scared, tired and worried. My dog felt the same way I am sure. I am happy to say that my best friend is back to normal after a few weeks of special treatment and meds. I do have pet insurance so the cost was not prohibitive. I did have to wait a bit, but I was planning on that. I did have to put a deposit down which I understand. I did have to have everything repeated to me probably more than twice but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. I would recommend this Hospital and I will come back if I have another emergency.
I am lucky to be in a position to afford good medical care for my dogs (and foster dogs). Animal Emergency has been there for me twice - both times on a late Sat. aft. - when my "regular" vet was not open. In one case I genuinely believe it was life and death, and Animal Emergency medical care saved the life of an injured foster dog. In the other case suffice it to say that it saved mine ... I could not have lived through the anguish of seeing my darling lie there paralyzed for the rest of the weekend, waiting for something less costly. It takes lots of money to keep a fully-staffed well-equipped hospital available 24/7. In both cases it was worth every penny to me.
After 3 days of being on Rimadyl, my dog couldn't walk. I googled Rimadyl, and it turns out there was a huge class action law suit against Rimadyl because it was causing paralysis and death in dogs. So, I brought my dog in for an emergency visit. When I mentioned tto the vet what I had seen on the internet, the vet laughed and said in no way was the fact theat my dog couldn't walk related to the Rimadyl. Instead the vet presented me with about $2,000 worth of tests that they wanted to run - blood work, x-rays, etc... She actually even said that it was probably cancer; either that, or the dog just over exerted himself since he felt to good being on the Rimadyl (Two extremes, don't you think). I said no thank you, I believe it is the Rimadyl. The vet said, do not take your dog off of the Rimadyl, it is not the Rimadyl. I kept my dog on Rimadyl for one more day. When he still couldn't walk, I went against the vet's advice, took my dog off of Rimadyl and the next day he could walk again. I think it's terrible that the vet didn't even think for once it was the Rimadyl. What a terrible experience. And, the fact that the vet tried to scare me into spending all of that money by claiming it was probably cancer? DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!!!!
Our bunny just had child birth, and had labored breathing. We had fed her some Gai lan (Chinese Broccoli) and we took her in for check up just in case. I signed that no invasive procedure be done without checking with us. Nurse comes in and says they need to put her on Oxygen. I ask whether they would stick tubes in her nose or they put her in a glass Oxygen tank ( I didn't know what the norm is.). They said tank. I said sure, as long as you don't stick anything in her nose. She said ok.. They made us wait 30min for a Dr. Dr. comes in and says that according to him the rabbit has congenital heart disease and should be euthanized so she doesn't suffer. I asked him what makes him think she has heart disease. She was fine till today. He said because she has green color around her lips and that means heart disease. Once I heard that I realized he is an idiot. I told him we had fed her Chinese Broccoli before bringing her in. That's why there is green color around her lips. I demanded that I want to take her home NOW. I moved to the door to where they took her. The Dr. BLOCKED ME, and said personnel only. And I am not allowed back there. He will go and get her. He shows up 10min later, and says. Umm.. She just died. I said I AM TAKING HER HOME. Both me and my wife are crying uncontrollably at this point. She was like our baby. So he went and got her wrapped in a towel. We couldn't control the crying... Our little baby had just been murdered by this butcher. When the Dr. handed her to us her body was already STIFF. Rigor had set in. I am no expert, but I know it takes more than 5 min for rigor mortis to set in. That means the Dr. had killed her, and then come and asked us AFTERWARDS. And that's why he didn't let me go get her myself also. He got so nervous seeing our reaction that they charged us around $90 I think. He made it sound like he did us a favor by not charging for other procedures.. This is downright criminal... I hope they goto jail. What kind of operation is this. I beg you people out there NOT TO TAKE YOUR PETS TO THESE BUTCHERS!!! 3 days later they sent us a card saying they are sorry our "pet" had died. If anyone is suing these guys, or if there is a class action law suit even if we don't get any money out of it me and my wife will be more than happy provide detailed statements of this injustice. I don't want these murderers to kill someone else's baby (pet.) I am not taking my pets anywhere anymore where I cannot walk in with them while they're being examined. I hope these guys goto jail, or get shut down.
