my westie suffers from severe seasonal allergies and his allergies will flare up and he would lick his paws, sneeze, scratch against the rug/carpet, and have massive amount of eye secretion. poor thing seems to have to suffer through this every. single. year. but according to the doc, i have it easy compared to other westies she's seen. i knew i had to look to an animal dermatologist to take care of his allergies because the general practitioners know nothing about allergies and would only prescribe random meds in hopes that it would suppress the allergies. reasons why animal dermotology clinic is awesome: 1) knowledgeable staff: the doctors will look at my dog's patient history and deduce the root cause of his allergies. believe me, it worked every time, especially since my dog isn't on continual allergy meds / treatment. 2) not pushy: they won't make you sign your dog up for the full allergen testing unless it's really needed. 3) miracle worker: my westie's allergy conditions were improved every. single. time. it's pretty amazing. this time around they speculated that he was allergic to fleas so they put him on flea meds and yep, worked. 4) thorough: very thorough instructions for medication as well as a letter that goes home with you on what was diagnosed. yes, it's pricey compared to a general practitioner, but i've learned my lesson taking my westie to a local non-dermatology specialist and it was a bad decision. the doctors at the animal dermatology clinic have seen pet allergies from all walks of life and are so in-tuned on diagnosis and what should be prescribed to improve allergy conditions. i've been visiting the clinic since 3 years ago and will always look to animal dermatology clinic for my westie's allergy problems!
They helped me long ago so I went back - but this last time the appointment cost me $262.00. Was told my dog had an infection, that was obvious, and was given antibiotics, that's what I asked for, and they scheduled another appointment. Knowing my dog had a skin allergy to at least one thing I saw on a poster in exam room (I walk him in Silverado where there is sage, muster, ticks etc.) I found the antidote to his problem!!!! I just wipe him down with a wet wash cloth after his walk - he is cleared up & Rash FREE!!!! It must take off the pollens that cause the rashes - simple fix!!! Why didn't they mention that? and after visiting a reasonably priced Vet I asked for Melosib shampoo (or something like that) a dog groomer told me about - the Vet said, "I was just going to suggest that" Lesson learned - no need for fancy buildings or specialist - expensive lesson
This place is very unprofessional and extremely rude. Considering the amount of $$$$$ you cough up just to have them see your animal, you would think they listen to every word and treat you kindly. This is not the case. Not sure who board certifies these vets, but they don't know what they're talking about!!! My dog has seen them multiple times and haven't given her a bit of relief. Dr. Muse was extremely short and didn't seem to care about the well being of my dog. You would think a vet chooses this occupation because they care for animals, but they didn't care at all my dog was suffering. Nothing they advised helped and she is still not better. Don't waste your time and money here!!!
Unlike Kenny's experience mine was fairly pleasant. The receptionists there were kind enough to give me turn by turn directions while I was lost trying to find the clinic, but fortunately got me there. They also were very kind to my pet and offered him quite a few treats. I'm not sure about Dr. Muse, but Dr. Aniya was pleasant to be around and gave me all the time I needed to answer questions. I will admit that the initial appointment and medications are somewhat expensive, but so far they seem to be working and I'm glad that my veterinarian recommended me to this clinic. Cheers!
