I brought my dog to Dr. Turie Norman in January 2010 wearing infant socks and a full body tee shirt going from the look of a furry Australian Shep to a greyhound when she met this dog. I took dog to a local vet for eye issue I thought she had, walked out hearing she could have Lupus which shocked me being a dog owner of 40 year who never heard of this before. Changed vets for one who is known to be holistic. He did the biopsy done through CSU and confirmed progressive LUPUS. Based on her stats he suggested against my beliefs drugs which I "fell" for --after initially meeting him and telling him I don't do drugs for us or dog. It was my bad choice doing the drugs that almost killed the dog overnight -- from going from no drugs ever to a short time with drugs. It was not a good match for us with this vet. Now comes the best story. Dr. Turie Norman saw the dog on death row where the other vets never saw that. She was my vet of choice. I followed Turie's suggestions, added in my own wisdom and turn around results were seen within 6 weeks--each week being better than the other. Now months later, without any desire at 11 for this dog to have another biopsy I call her healed from Lupus. She is not running yet like she used to all the time, but still she is thriving as a very happy dog with all her hair back and looking like she did about 3 years ago in pictures. Turie is very kind, gentle, compassionate and has the wisdom I needed to bring the dog along this far. I do say I have lots to do with the dog's healing with Turie --the angel-- that helped me get to this point. I would say she is worth the drive for all she offers working with you only as the patient when you go there till you leave her office and her experience. Of course not quitting on my dog even when she looked horrible kept me going and surely gave the dog the will to live. Whether she lives another day, week, year or decade, I call her healed of Lupus. A book forthcoming as dog advocate, owner of many years and a voice to the dog lovers who are throwing in the towel perhaps sometimes prematurely based on their vets words instead of going with your heart. I am so glad I didn't listen to one vet who gave every indication the dog should be put down. I'm happy I went with my heart and today I am rejoicing in this dog's turnaround and Dr. Turie as a big part of the equation. She is not like the rest -- she leads the pack! Carol Giambri
