Our miniature schnauzer was having some issues with blood in his urine. We could not get into our normal vet so we drove into town to the Powers location. They were quick and thorough and the price wagon the high end of what I consider reasonable. Vets have a hard job diagnosing a patient who cannot communicate what is wrong with them. I think people need to keep that in mind when reviewing a particular practice. We would go back again if we could not get into our regular vet on short notice.
My wife and I brought our cat Dexter in after we found out that he had a bladder stone blocking his urethra. The Ft Carson vets were unable to work on him due to being so close to Christmas and told us that he needed emergency work done or his bladder could burst. We rushed him over here and they very quickly began to drain the pressure as soon as they could. The doctor went over what would need to be done and the available options to save our little critter. After some deliberation, we opted to have the stones surgically removed and the doctors were very helpful in working with us on the cost of what was ending up to be a very expensive operation. The doctors worked on our little guy through Christmas and never once hesitated to come out and keep us informed on his condition. Even on one night which I believe was Christmas Eve, the doctor who performed the surgery detailed the procedure on a dry erase board, even though he looked like he had just come out of a long surgery. It has been a few weeks and Dexter is back to being his oddball self, but health and alive. This vet has proven themselves to us and we keep their information on standby if there were ever a need for them again. Thank you all. :)
We were there twice in a couple of weeks. Once with our cat who was dripping blood from a UTI we didn't know she had and the other with our Basset who decided to eat an entire Baker's chocolate bar. They took care of both our babies very quickly and easily. The dog wound up having to stay the night, where they could monitor her heart and stayed most of the next day. They did such a good job getting most of the chocolate out of her system that she never went into seizures and came home feeling mostly herself. Now she is doing just fine. The cat is feeling much better. It really eases my mind to know these fine folks are just down the street and there at such gosh awful hours to take care of my emergencies. Thank you to all of you and a very Happy New Year's to all!!
Found the office manager insensitive and unwilling to work with someone that wanted to help with monetary matters on a patient at the office - all because I wasn't on the "emergency contact list." Tried to explain I lived out of state (as she could have seen on the phone read out) and how else could I know about the sensitive situation if I wasn't in contact with the family originally. I wanted to remain anonymous from the family member without having to go through the family's grieving process. Obviously a good deed cannot be done without the "proper paper work." I am left speechless.
The vets and vet tech's at Powers Pet Emergency Services are consistently knowledgeable and efficient. My cat needed antibiotics for a UTI and the follow-up care they recommended was logical and thorough. The front desk staff is CONSISTENTLY inefficient at sharing information. On my first trip to this location, I was having trouble finding the clinic and I had to call twice to get directions (I was told the place was, "off of like... a mini-road..."). On our second visit, I brought a cat to the clinic in April and when I needed to come a third time with another cat in September, I couldn't find the clinic. I called THREE times before I asked to verify the address since I could NOT find them; the front desk attendant THEN mentioned that they had moved. With a move date sometime within 5 months, it should absolutely be standard to at least MENTION that they are not in the same location. This is an emergency clinic and pet owners are typically in a hurry to get to help. I've lived in Colorado Springs for 3 years, so I don't make it standard practice to routinely check to see if the emergency clinic has moved.
