Our dog (11 year old border collie) has torn her CCL. Due to her age and several surgeries with an unknown diagnosis that she had every few months during the last year we did not want to subject her to another surgery and opted for a brace. We are not local to OrthoPets and initially local orthopedic vets did the mold and fitted the brace. It did not go smoothly initially. The device made a blister on her skin and was painful for the dog to wear. It took sending the device back for adjustment twice before it fitted properly. During this time OrthoPets staff was very proactive, caring, and responsive. Now our dog does not mind the brace, and while we do not keep her in it all the time (the injury has mostly healed and while on the leash on smooth surface she does not need it) she wears it in the woods, and anywhere where we are not around.
Our brace for our dog which cost a lot more than other suppliers fitted poorly even though it was supposed to be custom made from a mould. Then it only lasted 4 months. Orthopets said we must have mistreated it and claimed it had been subjected to high temperatures and a large shearing force. It had only been used by our dog routinely. They couldn't accept that there might have been a fault with their device and effectively accused us of lying. I paid for a repair which wasn't warrented and quite frankly I could have done better myself. If anybody wants detailed photos of the problem plus copies of all the communication to show what their attitude is like once they have your money then please get in contact.
My lab-mix, Roscoe, has always been an active, crazy boy and despite being 13 he did not comprehend slowing down. Arthritis in a hock not only caused him pain but his leg would give out and there was not a surgical option. He has had his custom OrthoPets brace for over a year now and he is happily back to swimming and enjoying outings to open space. I feel that his brace bought him extra, quality years and for that I am grateful to everyone at OrthoPets!
I adopted my little dog "Nike"(min pin/chihuahua mix) from the Max Fund. He had a repair of his broken left front leg. It was healed, however he had length loss because of his surgeries and so needed a lift for his leg. He also had ligaments torn beyond repair and so needed a brace. The Max Fund introduced him to OrthoPets where he was fitted for a brace supporting his leg and providing the lift he needed for his left leg so all four legs are on the same level. If it had not been for Orthopets and the Max Fund, Nike would be in pain and would probably still be in the kennel at the Max Fund. I met him right after he obtained his brace and now he loves to run and play and chase those interesting squirrels. He has returned to OrthoPets a few times for alterations to his brace as his needs indicated. Doctor Mich and the staff are absolutely fantastic people and are great ambassadors for animals and the care they need. Everyone is so pleasant and helpful that a trying experience becomes a wonderful one. Patricia Berger
Working with the incredible team at OrthoPets has been a true lifesaver for us. Our black lab, Breck, injured both of his achilles tendons several years ago. Various procedures have helped (and are still helping) the tendons heal, but without Breck's custom othotic braces I'm not sure we could've made it this far. As an energetic lab, Breck has so much life left to live and OrthoPets has made it possible for him to enjoy every moment. OrthoPet's innovative technology is cutting edge and their dedication to each animal's needs is truly remarkable. They're committed to their craft; they excel with creativity, professionalism, and a love for what they do. I highly recommend OrthoPets and am so thankful for them!
