I would like to make a formal complaint regarding your company and it's customer service. Yesterday, my brother came into your clinic to have a free exam of our recently adopted chiweenie. While he was there he was informed that the dog had an upper respiratory infection which we appreciated being informed of. However, my brother was given medications on this visit and it was not clearly explained to him that even though the exam was free if he took these medications he would need to purchase them. Due to this he left as would anyone who was told they had a free visit. At about 6pm we received a phone call that we did not pay for the medications and that it would be 55 dollars. This is money that we did not have. We asked if the bill could be paid Friday as that is when we both get paid we were told it would require a special authorization. We then requested that the authorization be requested after being put on hold for 5 minutes we were informed that the owners were on "vacation" and that if we did not want to pay for the medications that we had to bring them back before 7pm when the office closed. We then explained that we had already administered some of the medications. The receptionist then informed us that if we didn't want the medications that we could bring them back regardless, but that we would be billed for the medications that we did administer. Throughout this whole process my brother was treated as though he stole something and was a criminal. As you can imagine I am completely disgusted with your company and will be sharing my feelings with all of my fellow pet owning friends about your unprofessional practice. In conclusion I will no longer be using your services as I can find a place where an honest mistake will be treated as an honest mistake and not as a criminal case. May this help you learn to be more compassionate in your customer service in the future.

This is a wonderful vet clinic. I adopted a dog from a local rescue, after not having a dog for a few years. South Mesa Veterinary Hospital was on the list for a free exam following adoption. I made the appointment with Dr. Davison and she was great. The front staff was friendly from the time I made the appointment and I felt welcome..... and so does my dog. Dr. Davison determined my dog was healthy and up to date on vaccines. She offered to perform a heart worm test and fecal test and I agreed. These are health tests that the rescue doesn't always do and that is all that I had to pay for during this visit. These tests eventually came back negative and Dr. Davison called me to tell me. I think that these people are truly special and really care about you and your pet. I tell everyone I know to go to South Mesa.

I will NEVER take another step into this clinic, and would advise everyone to do the same. Sure, they are all nice and helpful when it comes to small and routine things, but then an actual problem arises THE ONLY THING THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY. They will offer the most expensive procedure, but no professional medical care. "Care" is not in their vocabulary, period. Example 1: They failed to diagnose parvo-virus in a puppy, instead offering a load of small-talk and "an extended clinical observation" ($$$$); puppy died (2009). Example 2: My dog had problems delivering puppies (no contractions). Yes, they did offer a few helpful DIY tips for stimulating birth, but then that was insufficient, they outright declined to provide oxytocin or any other delivery help, insisting (!) on c-section - all that in a very polite and "professional" manner with a smile on the face (total bull****, designed to lure gullible or uneducated customers to GIVE THEM MORE MONEY - even if that comes at the expense of your pet's health). And they took 15 minutes to prepare the bill while my dog could deliver a puppy any minute. Puppies where born just fine in another clinic, with proper non-invasive help (2014). Avoid South Mesa clinic, this one is the worst out of 4 I've tried in Fort Collins area (obviously, the others were not far behind). Get educated on your pets' health, insist on proper diagnostics and disclosure of all possible treatment options and consequences. Do not blindly trust the solution being offered to you, make educated decisions, insist on medical CARE and not medical "help" - never forget that veterinary clinics in general work FOR PROFIT. While there are quite a few great veterinary doctors around, the fact that their business or employer has to gain profit places a dark corrupt shadow on the way they work. Very unfortunate.

I took my 10 year old Lab mix dog to South Mesa Vet Hospital for an evaluation of a lump on her front elbow, where she was seen by Dr. Foster. Dr. Foster was VERY compassionate and gentle with Zoe, and got down on the floor with Zoe to do her examination. After doing an aspiration of cells from the lump, and examining under a microscope, she compassionately delivered the news that it looked like a cancer. (which was later confirmed by further microscopic evaluation). She then offered me various options of treatment. Given my dog's age and arthritis, "quality of life", as well as cost containment, I wanted palliative care - comfort care, rather than aggressive treatment. Dr. Foster did not try to pressure me into treatment (which I have experienced with a different vet and an aged pet in the past). Dr. Foster was kindly supportive of my decision, and is there to provide palliative care options as Zoe's disease progresses. Thank you, Dr. Foster, for your compassionate care of Zoe and her family!

The staff at this facility is second to none. Whether it's in person or over the phone Dr. Burns and his staff are outstanding in their field. I drive from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins so that my dogs can receive the level of care and professionalism that is provided at the South Mesa terinarian Hospital.
