Dr Hix has over 50 years experience! It shows in his care of our cat, Ruffles. He is a very kind man with brilliance and patience. He is the best veterinarian I have met and his prices are very, very low. For example we took our cat in with a severe equilibrium problem and for a thorough exam, a shot and 2 medications the cost was $85. Those things could easily cost double that with most vets in the Denver area. A follow up visit with an exam and more meds was only $35. I highly recommend Dr. Hix, he is pleasure to speak with.

Brought cat here for a second opinion after going to another clinic in the area which gave me 3 different diagnoses from 3 different doctors (within the same clinic!) ranging from "sprained ankle" to "foot tumor - she'll probably need amputation".. Dr. Hix took one look, decided what it was, sent off for a biopsy just to be safe, 48 hours later and one bottle of antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory injection later, my cat was back home healing up! Old fashioned business, prices are $20 cheaper than anywhere else in town, Dr. Hix is very intelligent and knows cats. Don't expect to be coddled, but expect him to make the right call and solve the problem in 1/2 the time you will spend at any other vet. I won't take my pets anywhere else.

I had taken my kitty to numerous vets, and when I took my cat here he was pretty sure what was wrong with him before he ever even did the bloodwork. I'd brought in previous bloodwork results, and his were exactly the same. However, instead of "your cat is malnourished" I got "These are the classic signs of inflammatory bowel disorder." I'd been looking for an answer for a year, and in that time my formerly 13 pound cat had dropped down to 7 and was at death's door. Dr. Hix saved his life! I've never been to a vet that runs his own bloodwork as Dr. Hix does. I brought my kitty in, and he gave him an examination and asked us to go get some breakfast while he did a blood draw and ran all the tests -- he'd call when he was done. There is nothing like knowing an hour later exactly what your animal's bloodwork looks like. I drive from Capitol Hill to see this vet, and I'd drive a lot more just to see him. Sadly he's an older man so I won't be able to have him as a vet for most of my life.
