Deer Creek Animal Hospital should be ashamed of its practices. I am appalled by the way my pet was treated and want to warn others not to trust their pets life or death care to DCAH. I made the very painful decision to put my dog to sleep and entrusted his care to them. I chose to sedate him rather than have him muzzled as I did not want to see my dog distressed during this time. When I went to pick up the sedative, the receptionist had no idea why I was there and I was forced to explain the situation to her in front of a waiting room of people. I had just spoken to the vet, Dr. Andy Stevens, earlier in the day. I'm not sure why this was not communicated to her. On the day of the appointment, the office staff let me in through the side door and quickly took my credit card. This was the only quick act of the day. We were left to wait in the dirty euthanasia room for 20-30 minutes. Finally, the vet techs came in and informed me that they would have to muzzle my dog despite having been told by Dr. Stevens the day before that he would try other things before resorting to that. He was not even present. After the vet techs put the IV, they left us to wait another 10-15 minutes. The IV was too big for my little dog and it was clear that he was in pain and distressed. Dr. Stevens finally came but the IV wasn't working. He called his vet tech in and my dog was muzzled again. This whole terrible and devastating experience took an hour and 45 minutes. There was little regard for my dog or for our feelings. Today, I received a message from DCAH to call them back. When I called back, I was asked for my and my dogs name and put on hold for several minutes. Someone finally came on the line and asked if I was calling to see how my pet was doing. I was horrified. I told her that I had put my dog to sleep a few days prior; she asked me to hold again. A receptionist came back on the line to tell me my dogs ashes were ready and she was sorry for the confusion. How could you not look up my information to see why I was calling? I do not wish this situation on anyone. I am sad and angry; in an already devastating and difficult situation, Deer Creek Animal Hospital did nothing but add to my pain. I will never forget those minutes of minutes of pain and sorrow leading up to my dogs death. To Dr. Stevens, the vet techs, and the office staff: you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Deer Creek has absolutely the best doctors and staff that we have ever come across. We worked with different vets in California, Ohio, Minnesota and Colorado - Deer Creek rates as the best ever!
Well, our puppy had his first (and hopefully last) ever emergency visit tonight. Long story short, after a couple of days of being unable to ebb the flow of yucky things coming out of both ends,we ended up here. Because he tends to get into anything and everything,my worst fear was that something was in there that would require surgery to dislodge. We opted for the x-ray and turns out it's just a nasty case of upset tummy. Go figure. A few antibiotics later, we're good as new. Was it a cheap visit? No, but compared to other experiences I've had,you typically get what you pay for. What we paid for was efficiency and competency. They really took the time to listen and genuinely cared about my dog's treatment. The only thing I'd point out is to make sure they tell you what they're planning on doing and how much it'll cost before they do it. I don't think they're trying to get one over on anyone, I think they're really just trying to send you home with a properly treated pet. Overall, well worth a healthy companion.
Deer Creek Animal Hospital is wonderful! The staff is caring and knowledgable. I've been to multiple vets trying to solve a problem with my dogs allergies and at Deer Creek, they figured it out right away. Also, they are awesome at filling prescriptions and making sure they are filled on time. Highly recommend!
Probably the best veterinary care available in Colorado. All procedures including major surgery and emergency are handled in house by resident non traveling doctors. We've gone through TPLO surgery on our dog and a life threatening animal attack on our cat, both went smoothly with full success. DCAH also has an extremely nice (borderline overkill) boarding facility in the same building.
