I have had several dogs and cats at this facility and have NEVER had a problem. I have ready some of the bad reviews and I can be blunt about these facts: 1.) This is for EMERGENCIES, so unless your dog is bleeding out or about to die, you might not be their #1 priority. 2.) IT IS GOING TO COST MORE for after hours or in general, this is not your normal 8-5 vet. Planned Pethood Plus and Downtown Animal Care Center do cost less. 3.) They are awesome for cancer treatment, limb removal and chemotherapy. My 12 year old dog had a front leg amputation and is currently undergoing chemo there. I have had nothing but great experiences. It does cost a lot but it's worth it. I love that it is close and open 24/7.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE (similar to Chet below). I knew my dog had a wound on her paw, I thought possibly it could have been a snake bite, so I rushed her in for care. The vet didn't even examine my dog in front of me. They took her into another room and left me in the dirty exam room all alone. The vet Travis came in (without my dog) and said that my dog had a wound on her paw......DUH!!! The vet said that to look at it he would need to sedate the dog, shave her paw all the way and examine it, for $435.00. So, I asked for an antibiotic and left. However, they did charge me $95.00 to LOOK at the paw and tell me what I already knew before I walked in the office door......that my dog had a wound. I still can't understand what I paid $95.00 for????? DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE TO. There HAS to be better care available in Parker.
Wish I would have came here and read all of the reviews before I visited this place. All the 1 star ratings about this place price gouging are absolutely true. My dog had a cut that had me worried with the amount of bleeding. I was able to get it under control but knew it would need stitches so I brought him in anyway. I should have trusted my first impression when I arrived on site and waited 15 minutes before someone even came out to the front desk. I was the only one there and it still took about 45 minutes for someone to see us. First, the examination was a joke. They did not even look at the wound mainly because they did not want to unbandage it (apparently I did a really good job which is nice). So they leave and said they will return to discuss how to proceed. Im thinking its going to be a quick patch job and be out in less than an hour. But instead they come back with an estimate of $600! For a wound that was about an inch long. How can they provide this can of an estimate without even examining the wound? Decided I was going to take him to a place that was a little more professional and caring. Regardless, I was charged an exam fee and a quick bandage that totaled $150. They spent more time examining how they were going to charge me than they examining my dog. Good thing I went somewhere else, I was only charged $120 from his normal vet. The funny thing is, my dog was growling at the nurse and vet. I have never witnessed my dog growling at any person ever before. That should have been my second hint.
Unless it's a life-and-death emergency and you have no other option, do not take your pets here! This is a money making operation, not a place who cares about our pets. We took our blocked cat here, only because our vet's office was closed that day. The vet who talked to us about our cat seemed negative about his prospects. Then the Tech was sent in to show us the estimate of $1,900 to $2,900 for treatment. Later, we wondered if the vet's negative attitude plus the cost were really designed to persuade us to put our pet down! They took one x-ray and put in an IV port---and charged us over $300. They were very willing to help us set up a CareCredit account to pay for it. No other suggestions until my husband asked about low-cost alternatives. That's when they gave us a piece of paper with several low-cost clinics, and suggested we try Planned Pethood Plus. We took our cat to PPP, and were immediately impressed with their honesty and care. They kept our cat for a week, gave him the necessary treatment, kept us updated on his progress, and the total charge was $340! Enough said!
Unlucky customer! Little livid! Hope my review makes sense. My experience was less than positive. It took about 20 min to get enrolled as a new customer as expected. It started with the receptionist asking me to review my information on the paper she typed up and I noticed immediately the name on the paper was incorrect (female name "Susan") and told her immediately. That made me nervous that they could not get paperwork right from the beginning and/or they are not paying attention. After the registration and waiting 20 min they moved me to the private room for the exam. It took about 10 min for the vet tech to come into the room. She never introduced herself and proceeded to ask me questions about the issue, took my pups temps, and checked her gums. After answering her questions she said it will take a few min for the doctor to get to me. I started my smartphones timer out of curiosity to see what emergency really means in Animal Emergency Specialty. 29 min later the vet tech came by to apologize and briefly explained another issue was going on that was taking up more time. Then i got curious and started to read reviews about this facility and it was either very good or very poor. I guess i was the unlucky customer today. 50 min in I asked the receptionist if i should come back at a later time she said it should only be a little bit longer. Then i proceeded to inquire about the process in which they see pets and she explained pets are seen in the order they arrive. On the 55th min a couple comes in with two dogs (golden and lab) and the receptionist immediately weighed them in and took the dogs to get treatment immediately. She just explained to me they treat pets in the order they arrive (wow really!). I guess the issue was more serious than my dogs bloody stool. I finally got fed up and told the receptionist i'd like to pay for any services i need to pay for and leave. Animal Emergency & Specialty didn't charge me after the vet tech took the time to write down some information, take my pups temp, and check her gums (i guess that was one positive thing, maybe?). As i was walking out the unnamed vet tech was apologetic and proceeded to give me her brief explanation of what the potential issue could be with my pup. I'm less than impressed with the service and the receptionist with a rude attitude. If you ever need emergency care for your beloved animal try other options before considering this one.
