If you want quality care, at a fair price, without them trying to puff up the bill, this is the place. Everyone there is very knowledgable, spends a lot of time with you and your pet, and tries to make things as convenient as possible. I really appreciate the work they do!
I have been taking my dogs to PAH for over 20 years and have always had the best care. Dr. Allen took care of our black lab when I was growing up and helped save his life after he was hit by a truck. He is still as enthusiastic about caring for animals today as he was 20 years ago! The past few years Dr. Hayes has helped me through some very tough times with my own black lab who has been through mass cell tumor surgeries and Achilles tendon injuries. Dr. Hayes has always put our well being first, even when it meant sending us off to a specialist. She is comitted to exellence, passionate about animals, and an amazing person--personally and professionally. I would highly recommend PAH to anyone looking for a primary vet who'll treat your pet like it's their own. My dog is healthy and as happy as a puppy again! Many thanks to the Dr.s and wonderful staff at PAH!
We began working with Parker Animal Hospital almost ten years ago. They are straightforward, honest, compassionate and understand how much we love our pets and what an important member of our family our pets become. They also understand that sometimes the financial constraints outweigh the lifesaving measures that could be taken and were invaluable in helping us to determine the best course of action. We recently added a new puppy to our home, and there was no doubt whatsoever that we would go back to the care of Dr. Allen and Dr. Hayes.
I will never go back to Parker Animal Hospital, and I will never recommend a person to go Parker Animal Hospital for any vet care. I am an uncertified veterinary technician, going to school at Bel-Rea to become certified, and my regular veterinarian could not fit my 6 month old dog in for a neuter and baby teeth pull. The baby teeth needed to be pulled asap so that my dogs bite would be correct as the adult teeth came in, so after researching a little, I took him to PAH. The office and patient rooms were neat and tidy. The Dr. was nice, but the physical exam was not thorough. I paid for a full office visit even as a first time client, which granted is fine if the services are worth it. We discussed the neuter, the teeth pull and a microchip while my dog was under anesthesia (microchips can be painful!). After getting my dog back, I found out that no microchip had been placed, the response of PAH was oh well, sorry. A couple days later, I checked my dogs teeth post swelling and there was still a piece of baby tooth embedded in his gum that we paid to have pulled out! PAH wanted me to pay for another office visit to have the fragment pulled-- forget it, my regular vet did it for free. NOW TODAY, I am feeling along my dog's suture line to double check for a reaction to the dissolvable stitches, THEY DIDN'T use all dissolvable stitches because there is now a single stitch that I will have to take him in (to my regular vet) to have removed because it is partially embedded in his skin where I can't remove it myself for risk of leaving a piece of suture. All of these things are easily avoidable if the veterinarians and veterinary technicians are thorough! It is lazy and poor customer service to have clients pay for poor vet care. Shame on PAH for not even making an effort to right any of their mistakes.
I hate to be the one negative, if you could call 3 stars negative. They do offer first class, state of the art care. People are friendly, nice warm and caring atmosphere. My complaint is they operate like money is no object, and frankley, money is an object even with my own healthcare. I realize treating animals is probably trickier than treating people, because animals can't tell you exactly how they are feeling. I feel like they throw the book at the animal with the first swing, instead of a methodical, let's explore some of the less expensive options first. If your dog is throwing up it is automatically xrays, ultrasounds, blood panels, etc... Ouch. It's a $1000 before you even start discussing teatments. Sure that is going to give you a great look at where your dog is at, but what if he just has the flu, or ate something that disagrees with him? How about put him on an IV and see how he is in the morning? I am grateful they are available 24-7, but I wouldn't ever consider them my primary vet.
