We have been going here for the last 4 years, however after our last few visits we will NEVER be back. The staff was very rude and disrespectful. Definitely not what I expecting since I had received such great customer service from them in the past. I would much rather pay a high price for better customer service.
The Service is ok, wait times seem to be a long time even with an appointment. The staff are always friendly. I do not like the fees they charge, everything is at least $20 dollars no matter how small it is. To place eye drops in a dogs eyes is $20 + $20 for the drop. I went in for a teeth cleaning service, they told me they could not do the cleaning because of a medical concern and wanted me to pay one of their specialists $300 to find out why my dogs heart occasionally skipped a beat. I ended up taking her to another vet who explained why they told me that and was willing to clean her teeth. I avoid going there if I can get the service elsewhere.
DON'T GO THERE! We took our 16 year old Shitzu to be put to sleep, due to his failing health. They didn't sedate prior to injecting the euthanasia shot, and he scream and writhing in pain, in my arms. What was already a horrible decision to have a fur family member put down became a nightmare.
The staff at this Vet office is amazing. We haven't had to be in very often (thankfully) but when we do they have made it so easy. Their whole staff has been warm and friendly and the vets we have seen have so far been absolutely wonderful. I don't know that we will ever go to another vet again. This is a great choice!
I've been taking pets to Huron Animal Hospital my entire life (I'll be 39 in June 2014) and my parents were taking them there before that. I have (up until the last year or so) had only positive things to say about Huron. Unfortunately, over the last few years, that's no longer the case. To see a vet at Huron you make an appointment, which you would think would be a good thing; however, my last four or five "appointments" I've waited anywhere from 20 - 45 minutes (past my appointment time) before I've seen a vet. Now, I understand that if there is an emergency that I'll have to wait and I'm fine with that, I'd want the same thing for my pet. However, with an appointment, and barring no true emergency, I should be seen at or very close to my appointment time (+/- 10 minutes). I find it VERY hard to believe (and my parents have said the same thing) that there's an emergency that causes such a long wait each time I/we have gone in. Now, Huron also offers "Walk-In" appointments. One vet is, usually, dedicated to appointments and another for walk-ins. I've needed to get my dog(s) in sometimes when there are no appointments available. The last two times have been very unpleasant experiences. The most recent time I was there, I was the ONLY person in the lobby, someone having just gone back for a scheduled appointment. I sat in the lobby with my dog Max and after awhile I started asking, "When will I get back to see the vet?" and I was told by the reception staff that it would be "just another few minutes" (which they were able to answer without checking with someone in the back). Sixty-five minutes later (and still NO ONE in front of me for a walk-in) I got back to see the doc. The time before that, there was one person in front of me and I waited almost 1.5 hours. You're probably thinking the person in front of me had some sort of emergency. Well, about 20 minutes after they went back, they came out, paid, and left with their dog. Again, I waited for more than an hour past when they left. I thought that, perhaps, the walk-in doc was helping clear appointments, but that wasn't the case. I do like many of the vets at Huron, especially Dr. Heller and Dr. Grossinger along with some of the others. The reception staff is, mostly, friendly and helpful (though that has changed a lot recently too). I feel like I'm being overcharged at Huron, especially compared to friends who have taken their dogs to other vets for shots (among other things) and paid anywhere from $10 - $15 less each time and not had to wait unreasonable amounts of time. I hate the thought of leaving Huron, especially given that it's the only vet I have EVER taken my dogs to. However, it's time for a change to someplace that is more focused on customer service and that can give my dogs the same level of care (or better) while not overcharging even if it means I have to drive farther from my house.
