Love the care Ziggy gets from ALL the folks, Starting at the front desk staff who go above and beyond to the assistants who truly care for all their patients, and then to the Veterinarians with the highest levels of knowledge and compassion. We have trusted them with our cats for the past six years (Ziggy and my parent's two cats) and have only praise for all they do for the health and well being of their patients. They do the best to keep the stress levels down for the animals with separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, and I have never waited longer than 5 minutes to be seen. That is very important for me, and for Ziggy who is extremely stressed anytime she is out of her home.
Thank goodness for WRAH. After my local vet tried to kill my cat twice, it was the awesome emergency service at WRAH that has undone the damage. It was awful, slow, and it is a long drive for me with a sick animal. But, these vets do the right thing. I will not, ever again, take a pet of mine to a small vet-shop for an operative procedure. I've learned my lesson. Thank you for saving my bengal, and this valued member of my family. You are the Denver Health equivalent of trauma/illness care for pets. Thank goodness for you all! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I have used WRAH for emergency (after hours) care. Every time, their competency and compassion are incredible. I have ALWAYS been informed of my cats'developing status, been included in the decision making and been thoroughly advised of the anticipated costs (also in writing). I have been welcomed into the exam/procedure room to comfort my cats and be reassured by their progress. Expensive...yes. Worth it....totally! These are professionals, with years of education and experience. I expect to benefit from their expertise. I want my pets to survive and thrive. WRAH does everything in their power to provide a positive outcome.
My dog, Riley, is allergic to most of the world and has been on Prednisone and Cyclosporin for most of his life. After increasing his weight by 30% due to Prednisone, barely being able to walk, and scratching off most of his Terrier/Bichon Frise coat, his quality of life was so sad I was at a loss of what to do. But the extraordinary vets and Dr. Jonas were able to qualify him to receive a new allergic medication and Riley got a new lease on life. He's back in the game of chase, fetching his favorite stuffed duck, taking long walks and eating actual dog food! Aside from the perpetual bad hair day he now has due to all that wild fur growing back, he is one happy pooch and there are no vets whose commitment or expertise compares to those at Wheatridge Animal Hosptial!
I bet most these 4 and 5 stars reviews are fake or the negative ones have been filtered out. I didn't have good experience at WRAH. Let me start by saying it cost 200 dollars just to walk through the door. My dog had cancer and Wobbler's disease. Anyhow one night my dog Yugg unexpectedly took a turn, developed respiratory distress and appeared to be in a great deal of pain. I took him to WRAH. They gave him a hundred dollar shot of Methadone but wouldn't send him home with pain meds, which is very mean and insensitive. They also told me they did an ultrasound of his heart and that he had had congestive heart failure. I realized later with the help of my regular vet that was a fib/lie. First, they didn't charge me for it, which is a huge indicator it never happened. Second to do a ultrasound you have to shave the dogs hair off in the area you are scanning. Needless to say, Yugg didn't have any shaved areas. Also Yugg didn't have congestive heart failure. We realized later he was having trouble emptying his bladder and the urine was backing up causing fluid overload in his vessels and heart. Simply putting a catheter in and draining his bladder would have relieved the pressure and pain but they completely missed that and focused on make believe issues. So here is a summary of my experience. Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital appears to only do what makes them the most money and only do what is best for them. Your wants and your pets needs are not seriously considered. They will act concerned. They will take your money. They will deliver inferior care at a ridiculously inflated price. It would be wise if you have to go to WRAH to carry a recorder in your pocket so you have some proof of what did or didn't happen. I wish I would have so I had more proof for whoever is reading this. I don't think these people act this way maliciously but I do think they are delusional and rationalize away the truth of their actions.
