My Girlfriend uses the Companion Animal Hospital for her three cats and they have been really awesome. I had an experience today that have endeared them to me. There was a small animal that was trapped in a glue trap. One of my neighbors still uses barbaric trapping methods and this poor thing got stuck. I could not get it free myself and was upset. The kind people at Companion assisted me and helped with the situation. Unfortunately the poor animal did not survive, but the fact that these wonderful people helped was enough to make me want to continue using them for our pet needs.
to be fair... this was my PAST REVIEW: So in my pet owning experiences I visited 4 vet/animal hospitals. I can say so far - (5 visits to Companion) I am entirely satisfied with this place. The staff always remembers our names and are incredibly friendly. I always feel like they make the very best effort at getting us in when we need an appointment. I think the opinions I have received so far have been informative and helpful and I really don't have anything to complain about at all. Seems like whenever I visit there are lots of satisfied pet owners, this place needs some of those people to review because so far the reviews I have seen definitely do not represent the hospital. Here is my CURRENT REVIEW: After a year and a half of visiting this place, I've been told numerous times, and rudely that my dog must lose weight. Because there are many people that take care of her, this has been a huge struggle. Lately I have noticed that there seems to be a fair amount of salesmanship being practiced here, as soon or before the bill comes there seems to be a little bit of coaching to ease the stress when they hand it to you. I wish that they were more conscious about the burdens they are placing on their customers, and were not so overly aggressive in administering treatments to animals that might not need it, and in return charging and obscene amount and offering no conclusion... if this is happening to you, be weary.
First off let me start off by saying I believe everyone deserves a second chance, but when you screw up three times thats it for me. #1 Moved from one house to another house and bought my cat in. He said my cat was stressed from change of environments and gave it two shots and 2 medications to go home with. The next day I woke up to a dead cat! Perfect health and only 5 years old when I talked to the pharmacist he told me that he wouldnt even perscribe that to an adult human being never mind a 10lb cat. Then bought to stratford for cremation services. Upon blood test it was confirmed cat was over medicated. Dr. Ken and staff said it was cause of a bad heart, but never did she have problems, ever! #2 told me a surgery on my dog would be around $300. Later that day I was presented with a $ 800 bill and told me that it was cause of bloodwork and extra meds #3 My dog was cut and told me stiches would be $150.......again presented with a $600 Bill and this time I fought it. He wouldn't let me take my dog without paying so I payed him and stoped payment. Now he is trying to get collection agency's after me so now I pay him and I will be sure to spread the word. This guy is a crook. He will tell you one price and charge you 4-5- times what he quoted you and tell you that all this unnessasary stuff had to be done. Everytime it seems the animal needs $100's of dollars in meds or bloodwork, but in the end he is a rip off. I bought my invoices to 4 other vets and was told that many of the charges and work didn't need to be done and that his prices were a bit on the pricey side. Your animal deserves better....stay away from this crook!
I used to see Dr. P at SnowFlake and loved him. then when they went through the bad break up, his whole personality is different. I could not afford to pay the $500+ for lumps to be taken off my dog-however I made the appointment and paid for that to check on her, and he said, "well don't you have a credit card?" I said, no, that's why I don't have the $, we don't use credit cards. He said, "how can you not have a credit card? Everyone has credit cards" Well-although he was extremely rude, he did end up taking weekly payments, and my real concern was for my dog-unfortunately I had to put aside my anger and discust in the meantime.Oh-and the surgery turned out to be $889 without the blood work-and I paid everyweek.
I have been a faithful follower of Dr.Ken since he was at Snowflake. When he left I decided 2 follow him and have been happy ever since until 2day!! I had never had a problem with my other dog in all of the years i had him up until his passing. When i decided 2 get a new dog i had no doubt in my mind that i would go back 2 Dr.Ken. I have a 6 1/2 month old blue nose who i have been bringing 2 Dr. Ken since he was 7 weeks old. All the staff including the doc fell in love with him! he started growing very fast and was quite hyper when he met new people-what new puppy isnt? i took the pup 2 the vet 2day b/c he was sick. i did not know dr.ken was not in. i saw a new dr. and unfamiliar staff faces. they brought a muzzle in and gave it 2 me 2 put on him after struggling 4 about 5 minutes they finally help me pulling the muzzle so tight it made his skin around his ear raw. after our visit my son took the dog outside while i paid. he saw 1 of the unfamiliar staff members say there is that crazy out of control dog! yea he may be hyper but he is a 50 lb puppy and if u cant handle all types of dogs u shouldnt be in that job! i am going 2 write a personal letter 2 dr.ken commending him on a job well done along with the staff memebers i have dealt with prior. the fill in vet also told me i should have him in training when i told her i looked in2 it and new classes didnt start till september she said i should have been had him in training. i had 2 tell her its my dog and i can choose 2 do what i want with him when i want 2! its not like hes 6 years old and an wild animal he is 6 months old. i am sorry 2 say that this visit was enough 4 me 2 look 4 a new vet! Please let it be known that my rating was 4 2day and not prior contacts with Dr. Ken!
