Today I had called all over town DEALING with different vets offices and they were asking for symptoms and telling me over the phone what they think Is wrong with my dog and I finally stumbled upon this vets office. I called and I think it was jasmine who I talked to over the phone she was so kind and sweet, she got me calmed down, because ANOTHER vets office had scared me half to death telling me my dog was dying of parvo. I was so scared and concerned about my dog I needed to take him in immediately, they fit me in within a couple of hours. I was SO thankful! I got in there and I really didn't have a lot to spend. My budget is tight and he has never had any issues before. He's a hearty 65lb chocolate lab who is very active and healthy. So seeing him so sick I was terrified. The doctor said he really does not like someone making payments but today he worked with me and I am so grateful, he let me know what cost what and how much that would be and this and that, I talked to him and said okay well this is what I can do. We are still working on getting my dog better but he gave me hope. I'm a single mom with two young children and I just lost my 10 year old cocker spaniel this year, I can't lose my big boy too. Not when he just turned 1 today. So I'm very thankful and I do recommend this vet to anyone. I've only been once but everyone was so kind and helpful. I may not have much but my pets are like my children, they deserve the best. Thank you.
I began using them as my vet back in 2005. I have to say I've been to other vets prior to finding Dr. Weidenbaum and Dr. Shaff, and have not been happy. I am finally pleasantly suprised with the care that I always receive for my pets. The staff is very friendly and caring and they treat me like family. I adore both of the techs there, Sabrina and Candee. They're just great. Always so informative and confident with plenty of experience under their belts. I always trust what they say and of course the doctors have never steered me wrong. Thank you all for helping me keep all my furry loves happy and healthy!!! You guys are the best!
I took my new rescued dog to this Dr. because he was throwing up the morning after I brought him home from the shelter. I had never experienced this before with a dog and when I took him there, this Dr wanted to treat him for Parvo, a couple of hundred dollars in treatments. My dog had been vaccinated at the shelter, and later I learned he had also been tested and the negative results were on the paperwork I brought with me. How is it a recommended vet from Animal control, doesnt know dogs come out of there already tested for these illnesses prior to adoption? I have never sat in a vet's office and cried like I did that day. The problem was my dog was stressed with all he had been through and the change to my house and new food.(Never even suggested to me by this Dr) There are Drs that are passionate about animals, and there are some who are in it for the money. My impression of him is he is absolutely in for the money. I reported my incident to animal control for review. Forget the Free Visit when you rescue an animal and see your regular vet whom you know and trust. Lesson learned..
They saved the life of my puppy who was sick with parvovirus (he got that at Petland)...so I'm very grateful for that. BUT but I'm still very unhappy that they tried to get my money every time they could. Like when they charged me $395 for having my dog neutered and once I told them I was going to take him somewhere else, they said they could do it for $156. Then why not say this from the beginning?
I've been a client of the Deer Run Animal Hospital since I moved into the neighborhood in 2008. I have five cats, some of them elderly, so I am at the vet's office pretty frequently. Drs. Weidenbaum and Schaff do a great job - they complete thorough exams, ask a lot of questions, and offer great advice for helping my old moggies stay healthy and happy. Services I've gotten from them and their staff include regular shots and checkups, surgeries, laboratory tests and X-rays, dental work, and I have boarded animals there as well. The technicians, Candee and Sabrina, have been there for years, and they show genuine affection and kindness to every animal that comes through the door. I recommend Deer Run Animal Hospital and urge you to give them a try.
