I adopted a purebred black boxer (1 in a million) at this location and he is the best dog I could ever have hoped for. There is no reason to buy a dog when you can adopt any kind of dog imaginable. You may have to wait for the right one but this place has great dogs. They are particular about who they adopt to, only because they care, and want to find the dogs a good home. I wish I could give them more stars on this rating. I would like to thank them for giving me my best friend.

We went to adopt a 3 year old dog and were refused because our dog has demodectic mange (which is NOT contagious). Now this disease flares up because of stress, and we just moved into a new house. She used to live with two other dogs and she has been depressed lately so we wanted to adopt a friend for her to play with. Not only did the lady we spoke to imply that we were being dishonest and that we weren't taking care of our dog (in front of everyone in the lobby, mind you), she decided for herself that we didn't have the money to take care of the dog. We had gone to the vet right before visiting the humane society to give our dog her vaccines. This cost roughly $200 and they offered treatment for her mange at another ~$200. Now I just bought a house and was strapped for cash, so I told them I'll get it done after my next paycheck. The humane society took this refusal to mean we can't afford her and/or aren't taking good care of her, using that as grounds to not let us adopt. As if no pet owner has never been strapped for cash at some point. Mind you, the main reason why we wanted another dog is so ours wouldn't be so depressed and had a friend to play with, which would've helped with the mange in the first place! The saddest part is that this poor puppy will most likely end up euthanized as this is NOT a no-kill shelter. But according to them, that's a better fate than having us adopt him. DISGUSTING.

I'm not to sure how to write the review. the staff there sucked the day i went. my friend and i went in wrote the name of the animals we wished to see and we sat and waited as we were told. we waited 35 mins as two other groups of people who came in after us were aloud to go visit the animals the picked. I was about to leave but really wanted to get this puppy but the staff there were terrible with managing the people waiting. to make a long story short waiting the 35mins was all worth to get this little puppy. she had some health issues which the the humane society took care of. and now 3 months later she had some sick issue come up and the humane society still covered it. awesome place, clean compared to a lot of other place in south florida. and once you have the staffs attention they are great and helpful.

I can't begin to express how great my experience was with this shelter today. I came in not knowing what to expect and was greeted with sincere warmth and was guided to the area where the dogs were housed. When my wife and I found a dog we liked we were taken to a private room to spend time with and bond with the puppy. We fell in love with the puppy and an amazing customer service rep Helen gave us tons of tips and helped make this experience memorable. Thank you Helen and thank you humane society for our new puppy!!!

Great place that really helps animals out, I adopted a 4 year old Australian cattle dog mix that had been there for almost a month. They cover all the test medicines and treatments to get her back to health and it would have cost at least 10 times the adoption fee for all the aid they provided her .
