We have used this hospital twice - in the middle of the night. Once for a 9 month old cat and once for a 4 month old kitten. The vets here are incredibly wonderful! I cannot say enough good things about this Center. All of the staff are competent, caring and even more important, excellent at what they do. They made us aware at all times of what to expect cost-wise and always got our approval if it changed. I need to give a special call-out to Dr. Lesia Bennett. The help she gave us and our cat was unprecedented in our experience - she talked with us constantly to keep us updated, she contacted colleagues for second opinions several times during our cat's visit; her expertise was over the top. I have no idea how anyone could possibly have a negative review of this facility - we have been there twice now in the past year and both times the service and care has been beyond anything experienced with other vets. We have 3 dogs, 4 cats, fostering 4 kittens, a tortoise and a ferret and so have a lot of experience at the vet! That is why I'm compelled to write this review; these guys are awesome!

Our beloved 12 yr old Lhasa Apso Bengi developed a very sudden severe spinal injury causing total paralysis in his rear legs. After an examination at Kellys animal hospital in PSL they referred us to the Animal Emergency & Referral center in Fort Pierce to see a specialist. They called ahead to inform them of the dogs condition and I had a brief conversation with Dr Lyman. We immediately drove there and Bengi was taken right in for examination. About 30 minutes later Dr Lyman was ready to give us the results. He started out by detailing his experience and background in his field eventually leading up to how serious Bengi's condition was and our options. If there was anything positive about this day it was the true professionalism, care and compassion shown by Dr. Lyman and his staff as we started to understand how this sad and traumatic day was going to end. Knowing that there was almost no hope of recovery from this devastating injury even with surgery they gave Bengi some pain medication and brought him in so we could spend our last moments with him and say goodbye before they put him to sleep. My wife and I were totally in shock and grief stricken as it began to sink in that we would not be bringing Bengi home with us. As we were walking out a Staff member I believe her name was Elaine was there to console us with hugs. I cannot emphasize how much the entire staff at this facility helped make one of the worst days of our lives as best as it could be under the circumstances.

My dog was referred to Dr. Runde at AERC for adrenal excess, while I was nervous about a new doctor at first, I was so pleasantly surprised with Dr. Runde. He did an ultrasound on my pet and was right back with me to discuss his findings. It has been 6 months and he really has made a huge difference in my dogs life! I would recommend Animal Emergency and Referral Center and Dr. Runde very highly.

Such an amazing, compassionate staff. They are very knowledgeable and have the most advanced technology for diagnostics. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who has an emergency or needs a specialist for their pet!

I brought my mastiff in after he was hit by a car over the weekend. I was so scared and I'm sure I was a total mess, but they were so caring and helpful even before I walked in I called and spoke to Marci and she helped my figure out the best way to get there, then even more surprising I was actually put on the phone with a doctor! They were so prepared when I got there and rushed right out to help me get him out of the truck. Dr. Wasserman was great and kept me informed every step of the way. My baby is doing great and I'm just so grateful to AERC!
