HELPED ENORMOUSLY by removing all of our shelter pups teeth weeks after we adopted him from a non reputable shelter in St. Aug (stay away!!!! called PET S.A.F.E. in St. Augustine)., First Coast Homeless Pets is a PROFESSIONAL, COMPASSIONATE, ENTIRELY WONDErFUL STAFF OF DOCTORS, AND A TEAM THAT DESERVES A BAND TO PLAY ON THEIR BEHALF!!!! THEY SAVED OUR DOGIE, MURRAY. WE ARE FOREVER GRATEFUL!
This organization is a model of what to do correctly. They have more work than they can humanly do, but they keep at it! I have had several cats spayed and neutered and have referred folks to them for same services and shots. I have been able to take in more animals into my home because of their affordable services. I have helped others become first time pet owners through this informative and affordable organization. The world is a better place because of these folks! GOD BLESS THEM ALL!!
FCNMHP is making a huge difference in the lives of animals in Jacksonville! I take care of a colony of stray cats and have been taking the cats to get spayed and neutered. The staff at FCNMHP are kind and understanding, and with their help, we can all hopefully work to end unwanted/stray pet overpopulation.
I brought my cat to get fixed here and when I went to pick him up, I signed in and everything then sat down. And after an hour I still hadn't gotten my papers and tag or my cat. So I told the lady at the counter my situation and she didn't even care all she said, "Be patient." In my opinion waiting an hour without complaining was very patient. Luckily a man that works there heard me and informed me that he was one of the people who worked on my cat and he was fine. So I sat back down thinking it'll probably just be a few more minutes. But then another hour and a half passed.. finally the man I mentioned earlier felt sorry for us and got us our cat. Immediately after that we left. So I believe that a majority of the workers there are careless and incompetent.
I am so happy about my experience here. I've posted Google reviews on Southside Animal Clinic and Emergency & Critical Care Pet Hospital (Please go read them) sharing my story about my experience bringing my cat, and I have to say, I am by far more satisfied with FCNMHP than with the others. I call to make an appointment the morning after bringing him to the Emergency Clinic, and explain my story to the lady who answered. She tells me he should definitely be seen, and that they don't have any appointments, but I could do a walk-in. So that's exactly what I did: the vet clinic doesn't open until 10 AM, but I left much earlier and arrived 20 minutes after 9 AM because I knew I'd probably be the first walk-in they take that way. They actually called me back to do a physical exam before 10 AM. I was crying explaining his symptoms and everything, but the nurse understood and so did the vet. Wow, the vet. What a great woman. She was so concerned and sweet to Ewok. They were both really gentle while handling him and spoke softly to him, as well. The vet really cares about the animals she sees. She was scratching Ewok behind his ears and kissing his head, it really warmed my heart. She told me that because of the way he's licking the side of his mouth as if to un-lodge something, she thought there could be a foreign body somewhere in his throat and took him back to do x-rays. I had blood work done by Southside that I had a copy of, so they told me blood work wasn't necessary. I really appreciated that, because the Emergency Clinic tried to charge me for blood work even though I said the blood work came back normal... The vet at FCNMHP told me that fortunately, they didn't find anything from the x-rays, so she's leaning more towards Ewok being allergic to the antihistamines I had given him a couple days prior. She did, however, tell me that his liver is quite small for the size of my cat, so it's crucial I get him to start eating because when big cats like him all-of-a-sudden stop eating, they could develop liver disease just like that, even though the vet told me him liver and kidney conditions were perfect. She also took him back and gave him an IV drop and an anti-vomit injection; something I wished the Emergency Clinic would have done instead of telling me they want another blood test. She also gave me a can of Royal Canin Recovery RV to try and get him to eat. My only complaint is that the visit took much longer than I expected (3 hours), but what do you expect with a vet clinic booked full of appointments and me coming in as a walk-in? The vet was also willing to answer my questions when I called later on in the day asking how to administer the can of food. Overall, I was pleased with the treatment and care they provided me and Ewok. This will be my cat's vet clinic for the remaining time I spend in Jacksonville. Thank you to the wonderful staff who helped my cat feel more like himself.
