3/5 stars. Overall they are pretty good. Nice facility. However.......... They are running a $25 dog promotion currently (middle of Aug 2014). I went there to see a dog that was over 2 years old. Cute little guy. He been there for about 3 weeks when I got there and after playing with the dog decided to bring my dog over to make sure they were ok with each other. Then was told that the $25 did not count for this dog because they considered it a puppy. Even though it was over 2 years old. Then said that it is only on dogs in the kennel. The whole building is a kennel, right? I left disappointed and felt like I had just haggled with a used car salesperson (with all due respect). It is a nice place, they just need to not try to lure people in there with shady gimmicks. Be honest guys.
I would be highly skeptical before adopting a dog from here. The dog they gave us has a severe case of worms, which is bad enough for the dog, which was going untreated, but they also knew we had another dog-- so they greatly risked the health of our current dog. The medical people tried to give me some speech about how all dogs get worms and when I said we have adopted several dogs and actively volunteer and know for a fact that you NEVER allow a dog with worms to be adopted they get very quiet and said we needed to talk to the adoption manager for an explanation. We are in an extremely difficult spot because our current dog is at risk and we don't want to return the dog to the shelter because they obviously can't take care of animals. It is truly despicable that people like this receive public and private funding and treat animals like this.
I want to thank the wonderful people ( of course I didn t get your names at this stressful time) that treated my dogs last moments with compassion. It is always a hard decision to make to end an animals life and it is never easy. They do this on a daily basis and how sad it must be for them. You are very compassionate people. I thank you..She is in a better place with the other two dogs that were her brother and sister. thank you from the bottom of my heart......
Be prepared to wait 4-6 hours if you go there...they built this beautiful facility and horrible management running it...GET IT TOGETHER...SPCA!!!!
We have had several opportunities to see the great work they do. We rescued a dog and finally got him into their care. He was treated very well, and got adopted. We now visit them almost every week and see the great love and care that the people give to the animals. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK
