I have not visited this vet with my pet yet; However, we just relocated from Indiana, and my 9 yr-old JRT cornered a 3ft-long snake on our lanai yesterday... I saw the snake strike at my dog a few times before I could grab him and get him back inside. Not being familiar with snakes, but knowing our lawn crew killed a cottonmouth in our back yard last week, I immediately freaked out thinking he could have been bitten. I immediately called the two closest vets on Google maps... The first vet did not answer, but Suncoast did. The woman who answered told me exactly what to look for and what I needed to do if he had been bitten, which really helped to calm my nerves. She was very sympathetic and helpful when I needed it the most, and I will definitely be taking my dog to Suncoast for his next checkup! We were very fortunate that it turned out to be a non-venomous snake that eventually found it's way out of the lanai, but I have to say thank you, thank you, thank you!

UPDATE: DR. SULLIVAN LET ME GO WITH NO VALID REASON AS I WAS CLEARLY DOING MY JOB. I AM NOT A DISGRUNTLED EMPLOYEE BY NO MEANS AS MENTIONED IN A MOST RECENT POST ON HERE UNDER REVIEWS OF THIS PLACE. WHEN I WENT TO FILE MY TAXES, AS I AM A LAW ABIDING CITIZEN, DR. SULLIVAN, STILL TO THIS DATE (5/23/13), HAS YET TO SEND ME MY W2. SHE'S THE ONE WITH THE PROBLEM AND IF YOU'RE A PERSPECTIVE EMPLOYEE, WELL I WOULD THINK TWICE ABOUT WORKING FOR HER. END OF UPDATE! Please, if you love your animal babies and care about people in general, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS VETERINARIAN! You might say I am a disgruntled ex-employee, however, I am not! I worked for this animal hospital for 4 days and was terminated for being myself~ too friendly, not being a robot and caring for the people and their pets. I was told to lie to clients when they called in wanting to talk to Donna (the client care rep.) or Ms. Sullivan (the doctor). I refuse to call her Dr. Sullivan because underneath the fake smile she might give you when coming to her hospital, she is not a very nice person. As an employee, you are treated more like you should be in the military than in a veterinary hospital. I WOULD NOT BOARD MY BABIES WITH HER HOSPITAL EVER! Your dogs and cats are left in crates the whole time you are away and only let out for potty breaks every so often. They do get food and water, but no attention or play time. I feel sorry for the pets that were being boarded there the few days I worked there. The employees that work there now have only been with her less than a year, with the exception of Donna, her right hand girl. She goes through employees quite a bit. This says something of a person, as an employer and as a Doctor. I would go to work happy, friendly, warm spirited, caring and cheerful. Good morning, I would say, only to receive no smiles and a few mumbles from my co-workers, including Donna and Ms. Sullivan. I have 4 dogs and a cat so as an experienced animal Mom, I would not recommend this veterinarian or her hospital for the care of your beloved animal babies. There are 2 other veterinary hospitals in the area that I would recommend and they are East-West Animal Hospital (which does pocket pets, avian and exoctics such as squirrels, chinchillas, possums, etc.) or Cypress Creek Animal Hospital. God Bless you and your beloved pets.

Those of you who frequent Suncoast Veterinary Care Center this is what truly takes place in this facility. All those of you who board their dogs and or cats, please think again. This facility has dogs in cages that do not sufficiently house your dog. There are only two runs for large dogs, when they are full then your dog over 80lbs or more may be put in a large (pop-up) wire kennel where your dog would not be able to stand up or turn around adequately. If you board cats, your cats are put in kennels in the same area as barking dogs, which stresses them out completely. Or your cat may be housed in a wooden cat suite that is located in the facilities’ own cat room which houses their cats they have up for adoption as well as their hospital cats. So your cat is being exposed to other cats. Your dog will be in a kennel the entire visit and is only walked outside 3 times just enough to urinate or defecate. Due to the lack of staff available, sometimes they may not be walked all 3 times. This is a miserable and extremely stressful experience for your pets. Please reconsider either, hiring a pet sitter or locating another boarding facility that focuses on one thing, boarding. You may feel your pet is safer being in a pet hospital but that is not the case at this facility. This practice may fool you and come across that they are sincerely and genuinely care about your pet, but in all actuality they are full of greed and disregard of your pet’s well-being. They will overbook their boarding during holidays and use pop-up kennels throughout the practice. They have staff members come in for a few hours in the morning to clean, feed, and walk your pet and then again, in the early evening. There is not a staff member there during the lunch hours. I am sharing this information, because I would want to know if a boarding facility was inadequately taking care of my pet, especially a boarding facility that is within a veterinary hospital. Please do the right thing and choose a facility that will be providing your pet the attention and care that he or she needs while you’re away. Looking out for your pet's well-being! Sec. 14-107. Conditions and standard of care for breeders, pet dealers and large kennels. (b) Any shelter, cage or containment area shall be of sufficient size to allow the animal in it to fully sit, stand, lie down, turn completely around and stretch.

Great clinic, great staff, I have had nothing but really really good experiences here. I trust my beloved beagle with them completely and always will. It's funny (and kind of sad) how the bad reviews seem to be from either disgruntled employees fired (not even worth discussing because it's idiotic to think someone would consider them a credible opinion) OR from people that had to wait too long. Just a side note to anyone looking for an objective opinion on anything medical related - if a clinic (human or animal) has a long wait - PROBABLY A GOOD SIGN, it means that others like the service provided and believe it is worth the wait. It's also important to note that the personality of your medical staff should not be a factor in your decision making. Personalities are a dime-a-dozen, true skill is nearly priceless. Meaning, who cares how nice-or-not a doctor is, do they do their job well and keep you or your pets healthy? HIGHLY Recommend this clinic based on everything, but most importantly the fact that they are thorough, knowledgeable, detail oriented and completely focused on their patients.

Dr. Sullivan is a true savior to our cat rescue, Here Kitty Kitty Adoptions. She has performed numerous surgeries on hurt and mangled strays with wonderful results. We have brought her many cats and kittens in very bad shape and have experienced professionalism, care and dedication from her and her staff every time. I highly recommend this Veterinary office to all our adopters.
