I have taken (past and present) all my dogs, cats, a ferret and even an iguana to Dr. George for the last eighteen years. When I met Dr. George he was at Island Animal Hospital. When he decided to leave there to start his own practice I went with him. Dr. George tried to retire some years back and I lost my way. I took my animals to the SPCA which was alright just not as personal. Dr. George and his staff have always shown that the well-being of my animals has been of the utmost concern to them. Last year I adopted an eight month old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix pup that was in heat. When she had become pregnant and knowing her life could have been at risk I called Dr. George. The always kind Heather talked to the doctor and they got my girl in for an emergency spaying as soon as was possible. All went well and my girl is still alive and doing fine. This is just one example of many I have of the humanitarianism and professionalism of the good doctor. I now once again take all my animals Dr. George. We all just hope he never retires again.
My precious 10 year old Ragdoll became ill and was having trouble breathing resulting in him not eating or drinking. I do not have a vet in this area so I brought him to Dr. George after a visit to the ER which I won't even go into. He came in to see us and after listening to his breathing immediatly suggested an x-ray of his heart and lungs and I agreed. Both doctors and the tech came to the room to explain they found that fluid had built up to the point that it was compressing Maynards lung causing his difficulty breathing. The fluid also made it impossible for them to see his heart. The source of the fluid was unknown and they offered to drain the fluid so that they could take additional x rays and run tests but said that it would only be temporary relief and I could tell that they were leaning towards putting him to sleep since he had deteriorated so quickly and was in such discomfort. I was obviously destraught by this news and asked if I could just have some time alone with Maynard to think about it (break down in hysterics). They waited so patiently as I had a friend drive to be with us. The tech (I wish I remebered her name) stood in the room with me loving on Maynard and listened forever as I cried and spoke of all the good times he had. At a time like this that meant so much to have her reassure me that I was making the correct and unselfish choice to put him to peace. They let me spend all the time I wanted with him until I said I was ready for my final goodbyes. Everyone there seemed to be affected by the pain I was feeling as I'm sure that this is the most difficult part of their job. As I was leaving the receptionist helped me settle up the costs (which was nothing compared to the ER's quote of $1,235. just to run tests the evening before) she expressed her sympathy and I appreciated her kind words. As horrible of a situation as this was everyone there put me at so much ease. I will definitly be bringing Maynards brother Spaz there in the future. To all the staff at Dr. George's office THANK YOU very much for being there and taking care of my sweet blue eyed baby! Maynard Aleknavich 6/18/2002-3/7/2013.
This Dr. is a quack! He mis-diagnosed my dog, therefore kept treating him with the wrong medicine for many months. When the medicine ran out, I would have to "see the doctor" again, instead of re-filling my prescription. He wasted my time and money. I went to the SPCA, and they were able to correctly treat his condition as well as provide relief in one visit. Do NOT go to Dr. George for anything!!!
Dr. George has been treating my cats for over two decades. He saved my male cat, Tigerboy, after he was hit by a car. I had taken him to another vet on the island who botched the job of fixing Tiger's hip. Dr. George corrected the other vet's surgery and charged me less than half of what the other guy did. I cannot imagine taking any of my pets to anyone other than Dr. George.
