Hammocks Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Hew and the medical staff have been taking care of my furry family members for 15 years. They are friendly, knowledgeable and truly care about all of the animals they see. They always follow up on visits and are willing to answer any questions you might have. It is easy to get appointments when I need them. They make sure that my dogs' vaccines are always up to date with reminders. I can't say enough good things about HVH. They are the best! I highly recommend them.
Absolutely the best. We have been taking our pets to Dr. Hew and her staff for over ten years. I have been around veterinarians most of my life--my father was a college professor who taught biochemistry to pre-veterinary students at a major university in Arizona for over 40 years--so I know a good vet when I meet one. And I know when that vet knows her stuff. Dr. Hew does, and so does her associate, Dr. Rose. Dr. Hew and her staff are top-notch professionals but are also the most caring people I have ever worked with. They are diligent in following up with test results and appointment reminder calls. We trust Dr. Hew's advice, and know that she will not suggest treatments that are uncalled for or that will likely prove to be ineffective. I view our relationship with Dr. Hew as a team: we work together to give our beloved pets--we have four Pekingese dogs that are our children--the best care possible. It's a give-and-take, just like any other relationship, and you reap what you sow. If you put nothing into the relationship, you get nothing back. We have built a great team with Dr. Hew and her staff, and the vibrant health of our dogs is proof of that. For those people who find the services to be pricey, please take note: Hammocks Vet Hospital is fully accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), which means that the hospital meets or exceeds a slew of strict requirements set by the organization. The accreditation has to be renewed periodically, involving on-site inspections and the like. Accreditation by AAHA requires an animal hospital to go "above and beyond" the practices and techniques that are minimally acceptable in the profession, and this does not come cheap. So to those clients who plan to look for a "cheaper" animal hospital--check to see if that animal hospital is accredited. Not being accredited doesn't necessarily mean the practice isn't doing a good job, but accreditation by AAHA provides an additional level of assurance to clients who really love their pets and want the very best care for them. In our ten year association with Dr. Hew, I have never once had her or any of her staff attempt to order a test or procedure that wasn't in the best interest of the pet, nor have they ever attempted to sell us merchandise we didn't need or want. As a matter of fact, in many veterinary practices, when a major treatment is planned, such as a complicated surgery, it is customary to collect the full amount of the estimated charges UP FRONT, before the services are performed. This has happened to me at other veterinary clinics, and I was not very happy about it. Dr. Hew does NOT operate this way, and never has, which is another of the many reasons we have been with her for as long as we have. To sum up, I can highly recommend Hammocks Veterinary Hospital without reservation. They are the best at what they do, and we would not take our beloved family members anywhere else.
I have entrusted the medical care of my Jingle Bells to Dr. Jennifer Hew and her caring staff for many years. Yesterday it became necessary to euthanize Jingles due to a very painful, fast growing cancer in his front leg... diagnosed in early January. This wonderful group of pet caretakers could not have been more loving and empathetic. Putting one's beloved pet to sleep is one of life's most painful decisions. They made Jingles trip an easy one from his world of suffering to running joyfully again "somewhere over the rainbow." My gratitude, always, to this special group of people.
