Wonderful experience! We have a very anxious, scary, 150 lb dog that most vets would either just sedate and do minimal work on, or have us calm him down by literally sitting on him. He had surgery at another vet, which he had to do twice b/c he would bite through the stitches, and so the cut got infected -ready for surgery #3. The doctor at MVS was completely available and attentive to our dog and us, even on a Sunday, and fixed him up without treating him like a vicious attack dog. He was beautifully cleaned and wrapped, and he's completely well even after a week of the surgery. The doctor even called us to see how the dog was doing, and also to see why we hadn't come in for the follow-up. They were very courteous and treated our dog with great care. The price wasn't too bad either (much less than the other place we had the surgery done twice!). We'll be back for our other dogs, whether it be for a big job, or a routine check-up!!

I have been to this hospital numerous times over the years...for the most part I have had to go due to an emergency with one of my three dogs (2 English Bulldogs, and 1 Golden Retriever). Last Christmas Day, my bulldog Chewy had to have emergency surgery because he swallowed something and couldn't pass it. The staff was awesome from beginning to end. This past Sunday I had to take my Golden Retriever and from the time I walked in the door I was greeted with warm smiles and a staff who treated me like their best friend. I was greeted by Veronica with a big smile and just plain sweet. George the tech took all the vitals and info on Pudge and then Dr. Perez came in and took over. Great staff. Everyone was concerned for Pudge's well being. Thank you for always giving us the best care.

I wasn't going to review - I instead sent the following by email, but I decided in honor of Lulu I shouldn't let other animals suffer like she did: I should review you, but I do not like to give negative reviews. I will though let you know how disappointed I was with your services. I was sent by my primary vet to you because my dog was having problems breathing, she was drooling and she had a large mass growing out of the bottom of her tongue. All of this I explained to your tech as Lulu, my dog was taken somewhere else that I was not allowed to go. I was allowed to sit in a small room where I could cry and not be seen by others, which actually I did appreciate. When the vet came to see me, she said what my other vet had already put in Lulu's chart, that due to the swollen glands Lulu might have lymphoma. She said how you all had taken xrays and how the lung looked ok, but you wanted to take more xrays and an ultrasound. Also a needle biopsy to check the cells. Not once did she mention the drooling or the mass... when I asked her about the mass under Lulu's tongue she said she hadn't seen it, but she would go back to look. I asked if I would do the extra xrays and ultrasound and something were to show what would be the next step, where she answered the needle biopsy so I said shouldn't I do the needle biopsy then, what would be the point of the other two. She said that they would have to put Lulu under anesthesia because it was painful and that I would have to return later to pick her up because Lulu needed to be checked on after the anesthesia wore off. Later when the tech came to tell me the prices and she what I wanted to do, I chose only the needle biopsy and the tech said I that was just a needle and I could have Lulu right away. I asked about the anesthesia the vet told me about, the tech said no need for anesthesia. I was given Lulu back still drooling, breathing difficultly and with the large mass under her tongue - no directions as to what I should do, no medications - just the $700+ bill. When I got Lulu home, she wasn't able to eat or drink - I called your office to see what I could do - they said they couldn't give Lulu meds without knowing what the biopsy came back and there was nothing they could do. I said I was giving Lulu water with a syringe and he said yeah that will be ok. I had to take Lulu to a vet the following morning, where the vet allowed me to go back with him to evaluate Lulu. He showed me the all the swollen lymphnoids and explained that the mass under her tongue was one of the last stages for lymphoma. He was not a specialist as your office supposedly is, yet he was able to diagnosis and put Lulu out of pain humanely. He did not try to take xrays or ultrasound or even send cells out. He know Lulu was in pain and that she was not going to get better and he explained that to me. Your office is not in it for the animals best interest, you are there to see what tests can be done to prolong the dog's life, even if the dog is suffering, just so you can get a higher bill. Had I done all you wanted I would have paid more than $1000 and Lulu would still be suffering. I find my visit disgraceful and I know I should review your facility and explain what was done with Lulu, but I don't want to tarnish Lulu's memory with the terrible service you gave her. And they actually sent me an email before this, stating thank you for your positive review when I had never reviewed them. Yet they never responded to my email that I sent!

Recently had to take my cat for emergency attention since he had become anorexic. I was very impressed with the attention, caring and expertise Milo received at the Miami Veterinary Specialists. They zeroed in really fast on a diagnosis and treatment. They were also very caring and sensitive to his needs. I would highly recommend the facility to any pet parent. It's really like the Mass General of veterinary care!!

I'd found a kitten who was most likely hit by a car. Not wanting to leave it to die, I took it immediately to Miami Veterinary Specialists. To make a long story short, she did not make it. This was after receiving hip surgery, ultrasounds, a blood transfusion, being hooked up to fluids, and wound surgery. She was actually on the mend, and at one point I thought there was a chance she would make it. Sadly, she went into respiratory arrest after her wound surgery and they were not able to revive her. She was at MVS for two weeks. I do believe she got the best care possible, and the doctors are very knowledgeable and thorough. It was very, VERY expensive, so expect that right off the bat. This is a specialty clinic so it is more pricey than a regular vet. I know this is a gripe many people have about MVS. It is very possible that you will be spending thousands of dollars to try to save your pet. Pets are cared for around the clock and you are able to visit them at just about any time (so long as there isn't an emergency.) They updated me every day about her state, I do believe MVS did the best they could to save the kitten, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be.
