Between my mother and I, we have taken several cats to Dr. Brown for the last 25 years - since he started the practice! That just about says it all. For boarding and health care, the College Park Animal Clinic is the best veterinary clinic we have found in the greater Orlando area - although I must admit we haven't looked at the competition recently because Doc Brown is so great! I now live on the opposite side of town, and sans emergencies, I still drive the 20 miles to use Dr. Brown as my cat's primary vet. The only problem my mother and I have ever encountered is that (due to the small size of the practice) the front office is often closed on weekends, which can result in extended boarding stays if you don't happen to get back on the right day to pick up your animal. This can be easily avoided by simply being aware of when the office is open and planning your vacation accordingly. It has never, ever been more than 2 extra days before we were able to pick-up a pet from boarding, and that was due to our bad planning. Additionally, it should be noted that this is an animal CLINIC, not an animal HOSPITAL. Therefore, you cannot take a critically ill animal there in an emergency at 2am and expect them to be open to assist you. However, we have had several "animal emergencies" (including bee stings and bird attacks) during office hours, and the doctor was always in and more than glad to help. If you have a pet approaching the end of its earthly travels, Dr. Brown is one of the most compassionate vets I've met. Many doctors keep removed from their patients to maintain a sense of "professionalism." However, when my mother and I had to have our 21 year old cat, Lucky, put to sleep due to painful kidney failure, Dr. Brown was grieving as if it were his own pet, and he wrote us a very heartfelt, beautiful letter that we actually used as a "eulogy" when we buried Lucky. Lastly, although price is no object when it comes to a beloved pet, Dr. Brown's prices are amazingly affordable, even when compared to the Humane Society clinic. Overall, the College Park Animal Clinic is a little, old fashioned vet's office, run with courtesy and compassion. These are qualities that are becoming very rare in a medical community that favors quantity over quality. After using Doc Brown, I would never consider switching to one of those mega-vet offices that look larger than your average human medical clinic.
When my dogs are sick or need shots, I always go to College ark Animal Clinic. Dr. Brown is extremely patient and has an excellent demeanor. Even my chihuahua likes him, and he hates everyone. It's a very simple, no-frills clinic. I am going to board my dog there for a week soon because I trust the people who work there and know he's in good hands!
Great & caring vet. I'm posting their hours here as a reminder to myself and to help others. M-F 7:30-12, 2-5:30 Sat 7:30-12 Only (closed last Sat of every month) Sun Closed
