DO NOT GO HERE!!!.. especially to HEIDI GRAVES! I'm not one to write reviews or complain but how I was treated was very UNPROFESSIONAL and wrong! They charged me for services that they didn't even do! We tried asking questions during our visit and was given attitude, told comments like: "well I wasn't in your backyard.. I dont know what he got into" .... "I don't want to come in here Monday morning and find a DEAD DOG" I tried reaching out to let the clinic know about my experience. Even sent a letter to each and every vet at this location.. and messaged them on FB and I have yet to get an apology or anyone reach out to me! Apparently they are all about taking your hard earned money. I was visiting from out of town and recently had to bring in my dog Brutus Beefcake because the family had woken up to him in a lethargic state. He looked very weak and dehydrated from not eating. Brutus has always been a healthy dog and I've never had to bring him in for anything but shots. Dr. Graves took advantage of the situation and manipulated me. Doing just a visual overview of Brutus, I was immediately told that "this is VERY SERIOUS..I'M SO SORRY". As she gives me a sad face and looks at me like I’m going to lose my dog, so I began to break down into tears. How is anyone supposed to react or feel when hearing this? Especially when our pets are family to us. . in my case like a child. I was then presented with a $565.11 estimate. Of course I agree to do tests. After all, I was told that it LOOKED SERIOUS. .. Luckily the results came back normal for everything. We then asked about administering electrolytes to see if it would help, Dr. Graves refused and instead highly recommended that we immediately bring Brutus to the emergency room. (BTW.. AN ER THAT THE CLINIC PARTNERS WITH) We tried to ask questions to get some answers or ideas as to what could've caused Brutus' symptoms and we got nothing but very rude smart answers like "WELL I WASN'T IN YOUR BACKYARD.. I CAN'T TELL YOU WHAT HE GOT INTO" But yet, after taking a quick gander at Brutus she was so sure that it was serious. We told her his symptoms. We didn't have to pay $565.11 for someone to tell us that. So why would we have to take him to the emergency room? Especially since we never got a clear explanation of what was wrong. The response we got was "I’m sending you to the ER because I don't want to come in here Monday morning and find a DEAD DOG" Who says things like that??? Needless to say, I decided to take Brutus home. Before leaving, our tech Heather recommended giving Brutus some electrolytes to see if he would feel better. Dr. Graves then agreed and thought it was a great idea. Who has the medical degree? Why would you tell us NO then to later say it was a great idea? After Heather gave Brutus his electrolytes, we left and went to a pet store to get Brutus some NaturVet Pet Electrolyte Concentrate($11) and Beneful wet food ($1.89 for 3 cans), I am happy to say that he is doing much better! His appetite is almost 100%,he is playing with his toys, and is walking around.
Dr. Porter and his staff are awesome. We just had to have our pet skunk euthanized because of cancer and they were so nice and accommodating and reassuring. During such a heart breaking time it's nice to have a team like them on your side. They were very helpful on all of his regular and not so regular visits as well. Trust them with your loved ones is my best advice.
Our little Maltese Snowie is suffering from Congestive Heart Failure. On August 24th the vet we've seen for approx. 4 years, wanted to put her to sleep because her stomach had accumulated a lot of fluid. He drained the fluid, took two x-rays and felt that we would probably have to face the worst over the weekend, that she would not survive the weekend. She was still very spunky, alert, moving and walking fine, and so sweet while she was feeling really bad. We didn't want her to suffer or have any kind of pain, and asked the vet everything I could to be prepared. She has been our sweet little companion for 11 years and we've always done and can now only do the very best for her. She survived the weekend well, we continued with her medication for about two weeks and then felt like we needed to get a second opinion on her condition. If there was ever any doubt about our (then) vet, and knowing now there was a lot that was not right and could have definitely been done and handled better, we needed to eliminate that doubt and get another vets' input. A friend highly recommended Kirkman Road Veterinary Clinic and Snowie saw Dr. Eliscu on September 14. Dr. Eliscu is an outstanding vet and person! She is extremely compassionate, nice, very detailed in her answers, caring, warm and she is very knowledgeable about Snowie's CHF condition. Dr. Eliscu prescribed the right medication and dosage for Snowie, and by right I mean the exact medication Snowie needed to survive. After Snowie saw Dr. Eliscu, on a Friday, Dr. Eliscu followed up over the weekend and almost daily after that and asked about Snowie, how she was feeling, how she reacted to her medication. We were nicely surprised when Dr. Eliscu did such a thorough follow up, as the old vet never did that, and it only shows that we made the right choice for our little dog. Today, October 22, Snowie is still here and very alive! She is happy and as energetic and active as she was as a little puppy. She loves her walks, she is not out of breath easily and she hardly coughs. She has not fainted once since she's been on the new meds, she eats, drinks and does everything and more again. Little Snowie is back and feeling great, and it is such a joy to see that and to still have her with us! We made the right decision about changing vets, and what an impact that decision had on our pets' live and ours! Finding a vet that truly cares about your pet is possible, Kirkman Road Veterinary Clinic is proof for that. We are so very, very thankful to Dr. Eliscu, the staff and team at the Kirkman Road Vet Clinic for everything she/they have done for our little Snowie.
WONDERFUL. Simply, wonderful. Dr. Porter and ALL his staff are some of the most professional and knowledgable vets in the area. The sense of compassion here is incomparable. The facility is very clean and equip with the latest tech. Thank you, Kirkman Road Clinic!
Dr. Porter is absolutely amazing! I have 2 labs that are my world and I wouldn't trust them with anyone else. My black lab has a few health problems and Dr. Porter always comes to the phone to answer my calls. He doesn't have a vet tech do it if he's not available. He's returned my calls from the clinic as late as 8 pm. He has an amazing bedside manner. He eases my nerves when my girls are sick and takes the time to tell me all about their conditions. He also goes into great detail during their exams, telling me what to look for and what he's doing. I have learned a lot from him and I greatly appreciate it. He really cares about his patients and their owners and it shows.
