I am so thankful to have found Dr. Kelly and his wonderful staff. We have had many vets across the country and I have to say that Dr. Kelly has surpassed all of them with his knowledge, bedside manner, kindness and compassion. My German Shepherd was attacked by a dog in our neighborhood and Dr. Kelly was so caring and thorough during the exam. I was quite surprised with all the time he spent with me. Even the dog was quite relaxed, which never happens. I felt at ease as soon as he walked in the exam room. His vet tech was wonderful as well as the entire staff. I appreciate the fact that he has all that latest technology at his office so I don't have to go elsewhere for diagnostic testing. Very pleased with my experience with Kelly's Animal Hospital.
This is not an indictment of Dr. Kelly, just his approach to treating my dog. When dealing patients who cannot tell you what is wrong, treating their ailments is one part art and one part science. Kelly demonstrated to me and my dog that he only understands one half of this equation. My dog was brought in for pain sustained from a dog attack. Dr. Khodadad did the physical exam and suggested complete blood work as a precaution. That was pretty much the last time I spoke with Khodadad. From there, Kelly took over -- without ever examining my dog -- and aggressively treated her lab results, prescribing course after course of VERY EXPENSIVE antibiotics, steroids, and thyroid medications, along with muscle relaxants and pain killers. Roughly 7 pills, twice a day. The result was my previously normal, healthy 50-pound dog -- who had stiffness in her neck and one night of restlessness from a dog attack -- lost 10 pounds, was listless and could no longer control her bladder. After expressing these concerns with Kelly, he recommended more EXPENSIVE tests, which led to upping the dosage of meds, and a weekly vitamin B shot since her "condition" was not allowing her to absorb nutrients from her food. When I asked how long this course of treatment would last, he said possibly forever. That was the last straw. Long story short, I stopped going to Kellys, took my dog off all meds, increased her meal portions with healthy foods and took her on more frequent walks. Within a month, her behavior and weight returned to normal. I fully expected my new vet would find similar health issues from my dog's blood work, but would simply suggest a different course of treatment. But I'm only writing this review because he didn't. My dog is PERFECTLY HEALTHY. No irregularities in her blood work. No meds needed at all. Again, not an indictment on Kelly, just the way he treated my dog. Kelly demonstrated to me that he is more interested in treating lab results than the animals. And the crazy thing is, I never met Kelly; I just spoke with him on the phone. That was another red flag.
We brought our dog in for grooming and when we returned home with him he was a bloody mess. He had several cuts on the back of his head and neck. Brought this up to the groomer and of course she denied that anything had happened to him. Our new vet confirmed that the cuts were from grooming. We did try to get him into Kelley's, we had a evening appointment, my wife showed up with him and waited and waited. After more than a hour she walked out. They called and their excuse was that they had an emergency and could not get to us. If they had an emergency that is fine, but they should have told everyone waiting that there was an emergency and given them another appointment instead of wasting everyone's time.
I have been looking for a new Vet for the past year for our 2 fur kids. I saw high recommendations for Kelly's Animal Hospital, also they are HIGHLY equipped with all the latest technology. I went out on a limb in hopes that this would be the change of vet that our fur kids desperately needed. I was OOOHHH TO RIGHT! This place was amazing, friendly staff, SUPER involved vet techs! Got a sit down with the Vet himself, that dealt with my deathly afraid, hates men, Lab Mix. He was extremely knowledgeable and sincerely cared about their well being, and all his clients well being. This is our new permanent home for a vet, I just regret I didn't find them sooner! Glad we ultimately found them though!
I have been with Dr. Kelly for over 13 years and he knows my girl like no other. I have read some of the other posts and although he is expensive you really get what you pay for. I have had nothing but kindness and caring from him and his staff always seem to be able to get me in. I will say Dr. Kellys kindness and caring heart go so far!! He is an Amazing vet and I thank him and his staff for all they do every day for all the animals domesticated and wild. Keep up the Great work!!!
