Very nice facility and staff. Communication problems, however, with front staff. I was told very clearly that if I brought in my two birds, a conure and a cockatiel, that one would qualify for the "free exam". I noted to her that the coupon did not say that, but she assured me that one of the birds visit would be no charge. The doctor & assistant were great but by his own admission he said he didn't "do" many exotic birds. The assistant simply stood by because it was clear she didn't know how to handle an exotic bird for an exam. When leaving, I was told that neither bird qualified for the "free coupon/first visit fee, although I told them the name of the girl who said otherwise. They actually had no pricing for procedures other than the very pricey lab works that can be done on an exotic bird. I wasn't impressed that the vet had to look up the basic procedures & costs while I stood there -- to see "what might be done" in the exam. They gave me back the coupon, telling me I could use it for my dog later (which I did try while vacationing in Tennessee - with problems ensuing there because I was technically no longer a "first time visitor" in the system). I'm confident that the vet will hopefully gain more experience with birds than he has now -- as he at least has some knowledge of them. Suggest some extra focus on front end staff training in communicating information to a client particularly over the phone. It's difficult to go in prepared to pay for one pet and end up having to pay for both. And the avian exams are less expensive than a pooch!
