This doctor found out that my cat's pyloric valve at the bottom of his stomach had hardened and would not let the food pass into his bowels and be processed. He was throwing up all the time and losing weight. I asked him directly, if this surgery would let him live a normal cat life. He said absolutely. He knows of the cat that's still living that he operated on 3 years ago. In my grief and stress I didn't ask him the logical question. If you cut the outer part of the valve to allow it to open and let the contents flow out, would it also let the bowel content flow back into his stomach? My poor cat had stainless steel stitches. His stomach was like barbed wire fence. He had to be put down because that's just what happened. The contents of his bowel flowed back into his stomach and he got an infection in his stomach and started throwing up yellow bile. He stopped eating. His sinuses were draining, he couldn't breathe or smell. I told him this. He told me to bring him back in. I did. He took out the stitches and gave him back to me with feces on his leg and vomit on his tail. And told me to heat his food and make him eat. Two days later, I knew something was terribly wrong and took him to The Animal Emergency on 22nd Ave. in St Petersburg. (Highly recommend these people. They are truly considerate and caring.) to be put down. I called and talked to the doctor. And said I was too stressed to ask the logical question. If it flows out unrestricted will it flow back in unrestricted? That he told me my little buddy would live a normal life. His response was that he can't eat anything for 3 hours before he goes to bed because of acid reflux. I was stunned!! What a colossal creep. And the monster charged me over $1600.00 total for this lovely experience and the loss of my friend of 7 years. Oh, he did give me a discount for after surgery visits. My cat was only 9 years old. He should have been spared all of that. But this guy was so full of himself! First hint, he does all the talking for about 30 minutes without asking any questions from you. Don't go, don't let him operate. Choose someone else to take your friend to. Like Noah's (VCA) on 62nd Ave N, St Petersburg, FL. Dr Berlin is super and considerate of your friend. But take your own ear thermometer, they're still going for the other end and he doesn't feel good the way it is. They are a little more expensive but you can trust them.
Took our Shih Tzu Puppy here and feel very comfortable with the doctor. He is very thorough you can tell he knows his stuff. He is relaly nice and you can see he cares about the animals. I am so glad we found him!
