I had been to the Tamarac location twice before with my own pet and have been pleased with my experience. However, as a result of my third visit I will not be returning. Sadly I had a small dog "Meat" run in front of my car which I could not avoid. Meat was running loose at the time. I immediately put the small dog in my car and rushed him to the emergency center on Mon 1/12/15 between the hours of 12am and 1am. Physically I did not expect much but I felt it was the right thing to do as Meat was still alive at the time. It was the cold careless response of the staff that I found most disturbing when I arrived. Not only toward me but to the individuals on the receiving end of Meat's contact information printed on his dog tag. Meat was clearly a family pet / member. It was very "matter of fact" your dog is dead what do you want us to do. I was disgusted. My interaction was only with a technician. If there was an actual Vet on duty they chose not to present themselves. The whole experience was just sad. I have been disappointed many times in the past through my life. This is the first time I felt the need to tell others.
Last Saturday, my worst fear came true when I woke up to find my dog on the floor having serious issues and unable to stand up. Quickly, I looked up an Emergency Vet online and found the Pet Emergency Center in Tamarac. As luck would have it, we came to the right place. Dr. Kiser, Paige, and Stephanie greeted us at the door to help us carry our 60 pound dog inside. This was our first taste of how wonderful they were. Dr. Kiser, Paige, and Stephanie were so caring and patient with us that night. They went above and beyond to help us with everything. They are amazing! I highly recommend!
I have used the Pet Emergency Center in Tamarac a few times in the past couple years. I've always had great service at a reasonable price (compared to other animal emergency centers I've visited). Not a super fancy place, but equipped to do everything I've ever needed from an after hours animal clinic (from cleaning up wounds from a cat fight to administering antibiotics and other first aid meds). I've been to this location on various nights and been helped by several different staff members. Everyone has been very pleasant, professional, and attentive to my pets needs. This is my first choice in emergency care.
Thank you so much, Dr. Monk!! We had to say Good bye to our best friend of 15yrs. Dr. Monk was very compassionate and caring. He was very professional and took great care of our friend. His nurse was so good too. I could not have asked for a better place to say Goodbye. This was a really difficult night, but Thank you, Dr. Monk!!!
I had a kitten I had rescued as a stray. I had him tested for all the usual things and they all came back negative and that's great we were thrilled as we had all taken a liking to him. Now we noticed after awhile that his tummy suddenly ballooned up. I wasn't able to get him to a vet right away. Now we thought maybe it was tape worms because a friend had tracked fleas in the house which we had gotten rid of asap. One night I came home I couldn't find him and when I did I knew something was wrong so I immediately sought out the closest emergency care place to ask if they would look at him. Now they at least diagnosed him correctly had a rare mutation of the corona virus called FIP and it's fatal in kittens and elderly cats. So we knew there was nothing we could do. They were nice enough to offer to put him down free of charge and that's all fine and dandy. We agreed that was what was best we didn't want him to suffer anymore. But the way they went about this was god awful. They asked to take him back for anesthesia saying we were allowed to go back when they put him down. We agreed we waited to say our goodbyes until then. However I asked to use the restroom prior to them putting him down. They had me wait due to x ray being on and I was currently pregnant. By the time they allowed me to go back to the restroom I asked where my kitten was and when they would be putting him down because I wanted to be with him. I did NOT want him to be alone. They informed me they had already put him down and I had to ASK for his collar back, They didn't even ask if I had wanted his body for burial or if I wanted him cremated. I am so beyond furious that my little baby had to part this world alone with no one who cared for him around. I didn't even say goodbye. On top of that the information they had given us on FIP was not very helpful I learned more from Cats Exclusive when I had my other cat checked for FIP due to exposure. DO NOT GO HERE
