I made an appointment for my cat's shots and spent an hour on the cold, hard benches in the lobby area. I asked the receptionist if we would be next and she asked if I had an appointment -- shouldn't she know that? 20 more minutes pass and just as I told the receptionist I was going to leave and to scratch my name off the list, the manager woman called me back. She proceeded to give me excuses about the backup and then a lecture about how irresponsible I am for letting my cat go to the bathroom outside and speculated that my cat has AIDS. Then I sat for another hour in an even colder and harder room that was reminiscent of a gas chamber before I packed up my cat and walked out without ever seeing the vet. I work full time and go to grad school at night during the week -- almost 3 wasted hours on a Saturday when I HAD AN APPOINTMENT is just too much. I would like to bring my cat here since I adopted her from the Humane Society, but in the future I will choose to drive a little further and pay a little more to have my time respected.

I took my dog here because he had a cancerous tumor that caused for the front-right leg to be amputated. When I took him in for blood tests, they told me that it would take two to four business days to get results. At first, I was patient, but after three days I decided to call and check up on the process. After ringing them nearly fifteen times through out the day and getting no call back, I began to grow more infuriated as I was anxious to get help for my five year old Chihuahua. I kept calling until the sixth day when I left a voice message indicating of a lawsuit for putting an animal with cancer at risk, stating I'd inform news stations of their malicious actions, and mocked at their "Humane Society" label. No more than twenty minutes later I receive a call from the Doctor himself, with apologies on how they "lost" my dogs blood results. However it has now been a week since the surgery, and everything since that day I threatened of a lawsuit, they have been attentive and well. Needless to say, this place isn't a total mess as long as you pretend to get legal action involved.

I Truly Thank GOD for the Tampa Bay Humane Society, which helps lower my vet bills and give care to the animals I love!! I've also participated in the TNR Program, which is Trap Neuter Release Program, which they are such a big part of--for $10-15 or sometimes even $0 you can borrow traps, and bring in feral cats, have them fixed and then release them, and return the trap. These efforts help to greatly reduce the stray pet population. Also, they offer discount spay/neuter to public when they get a grant available. Great place all around--it's a little different than a private vet--but also so much more affordable! Go see Dr. Glenn--she's the best!!!!

WHAT A WONDERFUL WONDERFUL PLACE!! I just sat here and read all the bad reviews, and I am dumbfounded. It seems to me, that all of the thousands of happy customers haven't taken the time to write a good review, and the disgruntled have definitely remembered to lodge a complaint. It is unfortunate that these experiences happened and I am not doubting that they did--I guess no matter how good of a place, I'm sure there's always bad incidents, b/c not every single employee can be great all the time. That being said, HSTB has been a complete Godsend for our family! Being as I have 1 large dog and 10 cats, they have seen at least 8 pets of mine. This facility is much lower priced than a vet, which I could not afford. The medicines are less expensive. I have brought many strays/kittens which they have taken for me, and given attention to and re-homed. If you do not have an appointment you are always welcome to walk in--this is great! BUT, yes you may have to wait a few hours. But most VETS do NOT take walk ins. So it's nice to know, if you really needed to get in there, and wanted to wait, you will be worked into the schedule. They are open 7 days a week, and when they're closed the message refers you to a wonderful emergency vet which I have used. I believe they have several different vets, and Dr. Glenn is our favorite! She is just awesome. I really haven't ever met a more caring staff and facility. They treat me like I'm family, and the other day I brought my friend's very ill cat in. When I came back the next day for some meds, the receptionist ran up to me and asked how the cat was doing--which meant so much. I truly recommend this facility though, and I can only hope that more people like myself write about the good experiences here. PS--Sometimes, Things DO take a little longer here--like waiting to be seen, and then checking out--However, it's a low discount facility and I believe that comes with the territory. If you're abundantly wealthy, then you can always go to a private vet, pay triple, and probably reduce your wait time by 30-40 minutes. For now I will gladly wait in this waiting room any day. I really love the service I've received, and I recommend this place to all my friends and loved ones!
