We selected Briarcliff Animal Clinic for our Golden Retriever puppy based on excellence of healthcare and wellness treatment. From the outstanding doctor, to the receptionists, to scheduling we knew right away that we had made the correct choice. The doctor paid more attention to our puppy, spending the time necessary to get to know her, than most human doctors pay to us. Having a pet is expensive, from the costs of safe toys to that of quality food. We were warned by the animal adoption agency therefore we knew what we were facing. However, having made the decision for a pet and now having a new member of the family in our home, our main concern is quality care and Briarcliff Animal Clinic continues to live up to its reputation in veterinary healthcare.

I have had dogs all of my life and I have never had such an experience. I will spend the rest of my life telling others to not use Briafcliff Animal Clinic. I was new in town and this clinic determined that my 6 lb. poodle needed surgery on her back leg. When the surgery did not work the doctor said to me, "Either I messed up or the equipment failed". He did the surgery a 2nd time and then a 3rd time for correcting whatever he was doing. In October he said he needed to operate again on this tiny dog (a 4th time in 4 months). When I asked where he went to surgery school he said,"Oh, I'm not a surgeon, but I WANT TO BE A SURGEON." He put her to sleep FOUR time to complete what should have been done in ONE surgery. (I know this because prior to coming to Atlanta her other back leg had been operated on for the same thing and was completed with one surgery) In March the clinic said the dog needed her teeth cleaned. Therefore, this tiny dog was put to sleep FIVE times in TWENTY ONE MONTHS. Immediately she began having breathing problems and would pass out from a lack of oxygen. Now they prescribed Prednisone because she had developed a collapsing trachia from being put to sleep so many times in such a short period. The Prednisone caused liver and pancreas issues and her body swelled to half again its size. She was prescribed still more expensive meds - WHICH THEY SELL AT THEIR OFFICE. March 15 during the night I called their Emergency Clinic to tell them she had been throwing up all night. I was told she would probably be alright and to take her to the main clinic in the morning as an emergency. I called the next morning to advise I was bringing her in as an emergency and that she was dehydrated. We waited quite some time before anyone called us to the back. I told the doctor she had been throwing up all night and was completely dehydrated. She could not even stand. He looked at her and said he needed to run tests because she was so swollen he could tell she had major issues. ONE WOULD THINK HE COULD HAVE LOOKED AT HER MEDICAL FILE. Later in the day he called (after he had done numerous very expensive tests, including an ultrasound, X-Rays, a liver profile and checked her pancreas) and advised that she needed to be put to sleep. She was alert but exhausted when I arrived. She had been sick for so long. I stood next to her as she lay on the table. She raised her tiny head and looked back at me as the doctor inserted the poison to kill her. What should have been a one time surgery became a nightmare of recurring surgeries and expensive medications. According to the medical records SHE WAS NEVER HYDRATED THAT LAST DAY I TOOK HER TO EMERGENCY TO BE HYDRATED. The doctor was too busy running expensive tests on her. Today I have a rescue and a new vet who is interested in the health of the animal and not in running up the medical bills. My new dog needs surgery and this very caring new vet has referred us to a VETERINARY SURGEON.

They have been my vet of choice since 1976. They really care about your pet and do a great job. Love being able to e mail questions. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Unfortunately, I have had to update this review. Their prices are now completely out of line, try GVS or Alpharetta animal hospital instead.

I've taken my dogs here for several years and would not consider taking them anywhere else. They have always received top notch treatment from dedicated, caring staff. I love that they are open 24 hours. We've had middle of the night emergencies, and It is so nice to be able to take them to docs who know them and have their history rather than to a night time only emergency clinic and doc I don't know anything about. As far as cost is concerned, I have found them to be very mindful of the cost of care and conservative about ordering lab work and other diagnostic tests. They have given me pre-treatment estimates for anything more than a check up and vaccines. I don't select physicians, dentists, or even hairdressers for myself based on who is the cheapest and am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. I don't know what other facilities charge and don't care. My babies deserve the best and I am willing to pay for it.

Absolutely outrageous pricing. If ever there were a business that preyed on how people feel about their pets to make money, this is it. Sadly, when it was time for my dog to be put down, Briarcliff wanted $310. Other vets were around $125 or less. I even found a well-know, private practice that charged me $80. I get this is a big business with lots of staff/doctors to support. But at what price?
