Our little chihauahu was very badly injured by another dog one night after routine vet hours. We arrived at the Emergency Clinic and were quickly taken care of. Our little puppy was injured so severely we made the difficult decision to put him out of his suffering. The Augusta Animal Emergency veterinarian and staff were very sensitive and caring during this very emotional time. They made sure our puppy was comfortable and allowed me all the time I needed with him. I wanted to bring our puppy back home to bury him. Our puppy was very well taken care of and prepared for me to take home. While the circumstances bringing me to the Augusta Animal Emergency clinic were not the best, the Augusta Animal Emergency clinic did a fine job.

Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The office was clean, and the staff were professional and polite. The doctor was amiable, easy to talk to, and understanding. I had to go on Thanksgiving, so being open and available was a lifesaver!

My poor baby was extremely sick and needed emergency surgery. It was a nerve racking and unpleasant situation, but Augusta Animal Emergency was wonderful all the way through. They even let me come say good night to him (they offered! How sweet!!), and call more than a couple times for an update. Their follow up was wonderful as well. We got him on a treatment plan (male cat with calcium oxalate bladder stones: always requires surgery if they appear) and back up to his normal adventurous self in a couple weeks. Pricey as expected for emergency services, but highly recommended.

We have Doberman, and they love to eat everything they can get in their mouth. We have been com to AAE for at least 4 years. We have had a total now of 14 dogs all our lives and when they come to live with us it as is their forever home. This has been the nicest Animal Emergency Clinic in the area. These are very Professional people with just the right personality to fit in. . I have read all the reviews and no, I have not encountered rude personnel, perhaps if I; myself had a rude personality their remarks would seem that way to me. In the waiting room, you can hear how people are talked to, very respectfully. Most of the times when you are in an emergency situation you tend not to be yourself and you take things the wrong way. . These people deal daily with emergencies and realize there is a hard ship on you. I find the fees reasonable, the staff incredible, and the appearance of the facility immaculate. AAE we are so glad we found you. Gary and Kay

I live almost 70 miles from AAE and have never had to use the services of this animal hospital and hope I never have to again. My dog was spayed 5 days ago. She is a very active dog and her activity caused her stitches to come out. In a panic I called AAE because my vet was closed for the weekend. The first person I talked to was very rude and condescending. I explained the situation and she told me I had to bring her in. When I told her how far I lived and asked for an estimation she said $90 for the visit and the stapling would be free. She said if there were other issues then it would be more. I explained to her I didn't have a lot of money and she told me I needed to start asking family for money or call a number she gave me for a credit card for medical purposes. I explained the card was out of the question because of credit issues. She replied ' I don't know what to tell you then unless you want her guts to fall out on the ground you need to bring her in" Already in a panic this new information did not help. So into the truck we go and off to AAE. When I get there they put me in a room and have me fill out paperwork. The assistant checks my dog out and says it looks ok but the vet will need to look at it. I explained to the assistant I can't afford to pay more than the $90 they had quoted me. They take Holland (my dog) from the room and the vet comes in a few minutes later saying. The wound is actually healed but the pink skin we were seeing was your vet didn't match up incision pieces but let it overlap which is fine but because Holland had gotten dirt in it it was infected and was going to cost me $180. I explained I didn't really have that kind of money to hand out readily. The vet said "I understand but if you can't afford to take care of your pets than maybe you shouldn't have picked her up" I told the vet "I understand you but there is no way I was going to drive to work everyday and watch this dog starve to death" BACK STORY ON HOLLAND: She lived up the road from me and I passed her everyday on the way to work. I saw a cute puppy deteriorate to a bag of bones in 3 months. When I finally decided to get her she was so starved she could no longer walk and she was bones wrapped in skin. I brought her to my vet who treated her for worms and mange over a four week period. When she was strong enough my vet discovered Holland was actually 6 months old and due the mistreatment she would never grow into the big dog she should of been. Holland was given her shots rabies included. She finally gained enough weight and was healthy enough to be spayed. Oh yeah Holland was also put on heartworm preventative. Which brings me up to now. I might be would agree with the vet at AAE if I actually had not been a responsible pet owner. This is not my first dog as my vet and previous vet can attest to. This was a freak accident and I did not need a vet or their assistant making me feel like I was worst pet mom ever. NO pet owner should be told because they don't have money there dogs guts are going to fall out or told they should have left a beloved pet/family member in the care of people who were watching it starve to death slowly. So this is what my $176 got me: Rude and disrespectful behavior, accusations of being a bad pet owner, no staples, a bandage, a Victorian dog collar and 7 pills for infection which I was told I could take a prescription to a pharmacy to get filled if I didn't want to get it from them...that would have brought my bill down to $140. I will not be going back to them.
