This shelter had a photo of a male cat online that had his same exact distinct markings as my missing tuxedo cat. I called only to be told that it was not my cat. I begged for another photo or any other information on the cat they had and they said they could not provided to me. I drove an hour to their shelter to be told that this cat was not at their shelter but in a foster home. I asked again, if they could please have the foster parents send me a full length photo of the cat so that I could be reassured this cat was not mine and they said that they could not make any promises (after whispering to each other on the phone). Thankfully, there was a police station close by and I went there to find a very helpful police officer who made a few phone calls to them and asked them to send me a full length photo of the cat they had. It literally took the police getting involved for this shelter to be helpful to me in my search for my missing cat. As an animal shelter, is it not your job to be happy to find loving homes for your animals? Is it not your job, that if a family calls or comes in looking for their missing animal (especially if they find 1 photo of what looks like their missing cat after a full month of searching and finding not one other cat that looks anything like him) to be helpful, considerate, and want to make sure the family is assured that you do not have their cat. All I wanted was one full length photo. The lady at this shelter, Shana, was rude from the get go, could not wait to get off the phone, nor would go the extra distance to make sure she did not have my cat. I pretty much told her I was going to come down there to take a look and she told me that I would need to fill out an adoption application first before i could take a look at their pets. Its just a shame! Makes me wonder what would have happened if the cat they had actually turned out to be mine? Seriously terrible shelter. If you love animals enough to work at a shelter, be helpful to those who have lost their loving pet!

I have had good experiences in the past with LIfeline, so I went to the vaccination clinic today. I chose LIfeline's vaccination clinic because on their website they stated an exam was included in the price, and they were the cheapest I found. However, I was not allowed to be present in the room while my dog was seeing the vet, and I was told by one of the staff that an exam would not be performed. In addition, the rabies tag was not included (in Dekalb County registration is $10), and unlike other low-cost shot clinics I have been to, they do not have heartworm medicine available for purchase on site. Overall, more hassle than it was worth. In the end it was at best only $10 cheaper than the ones at major pet stores, and at worst perhaps more expensive because I will have to use the Rx to buy the heartworm medicine elsewhere. If I had known an exam was not included I would have gone to one of the other clinic options.

I'm not sure why this place has such great reviews across the review sites. We took our puppy there for her spaying thinking that the benefits of the low cost option and the fact that we were giving money to a good cause was a win-win. Having been to alot of rescue places (including Best Friends -- Lifeline's affiliate/parent in Utah) I do usually know what to expect at a clinic. That being said, my expectations weren't super high. However, I was really surprised at the condition of this facility both inside and outside. The outside desperately needs to be cleaned up and painted. I'm sure there are volunteers and organizations who can help with this. Inside it was dank, dirty and overcrowded with no clear order. It smelled bad and there was an open candle to try to cover that up. The cages in the back were clearly rusted. My vibe was not right when I walked in and I should have left, but I wanted to trust them. So, I left our pup. Later in the day I received a call and was told, "your dog is ready to be picked up." I immediately headed over. She had been tattooed (which I didn't have an option on). The ink from the tattoo was all over her belly and feet. It just felt sloppy. I got a glimpse into the "surgery" area, which essentially looked like a large office closet and the guy who brought her out did not clean his hands in between handling various animals. Her scar is sloppy and the way they stitched her up looks like it is pulling at her skin. She clearly was in alot of discomfort after her surgery. We've had her on the meds for a couple of days. But, I am really upset with myself that I didn't just follow my gut and cancel my appointment and take her somewhere else. Honestly, I'm just glad that she is ok. After seeing what it looks like on the outside, I question the quality of their sterilization and medical practices. This facility may do good work, but it may be at the expense of quality and health. I will never go here again and would only recommend it in dire circumstances for rescues.

What an incredibly wonderful service Lifeline does. By focusing almost exclusively on spaying and neutering, instead of being a full veterinary clinic, they offer prices that almost nobody can beat. And they do a fine job of it, too. Why only 4 stars, then? The smell. You get used to it after a bit, but it hits you when you first walk in the lobby. Don't let that discourage you, though, particularly if you participate in TNR--I wouldn't go anywhere else to get the ferals fixed!

This clinic is terrific. They helped my neighborhood by offering low cost spaying and neutering of our feral cat population and when we rescued a small dog off the street, they did a top knotch job neutering him as well. Lifeline is friendly and efficient. They are an invaluable service providing a low cost alternative for spaying and neutering. They are clean and have done an excellent job every time we have used them. I recommend them to everyone.
