Hog Mountain is a hidden gem! I am very fussy about finding a vet for my 2 cats and 2 dogs (I used to be a vet tech, so I know what to look for). I went to the hospital, just to look around and was SO pleasantly surprised! The clinic is spotless and the staff was really friendly! I liked what I saw, so I took my Boxer in to see Dr. Amy Young. Dr. Amy was so much fun and made both my pup and I feel relaxed! I am really happy I found this place! I went to a few other Dacula/Hamilton Mill vets, and none of them had a big backyard and boarding like this place did! It is great to know that my dogs and cats would be in good hands while I'm away on vacations. I highly recommend this vet. It is a bit hidden (across the street from Kroger off Hog Mtn Church rd), but it is worth taking a tour and meeting the staff!
Last week our 2 year old cat stopped eating and using his litter box. He was lying around, and vomiting. We took him to Hog Mountain Animal Hospital and discovered that he had urinary blockage and was in renal failure. He was very close to death. Hog Mountain Animal Hospital saved his life! He came through and we were able to bring him home 2 days later. The vets and staff were incredible. They were very kind and patient with me, even when I called 5 times a day. Catnip has made a complete recovery and our family is extremely grateful to the entire team at Hog Mountain Animal Hospital. THANK YOU!!!!!!
I recently boarded my dog here, and I was a bit apprehensive after reading another reviewer mention their dog always got bladder infections when staying here. I decided to give them a try anyway, as I was short on time. I very much regret boarding my dog here. She has a very bad bladder infection, but it didn't come on right away. It was a couple days after I brought her home that I became concerned. Today she's been feeling terrible, but I'm treating her and she's slowly improving (for those of you who are wondering). I won't be darkening their door ever again, and I hope this review helps others avoid this sort of situation. UPDATE A MONTH LATER We have come to the conclusion that my dog was abused at this vet. When she started having trouble eating, we took her to another vet, and he verified that she had a rope burn on her throat and that her tracheal cartilage could have been damaged. He prescribed steroids, and they seem to be helping a lot. That is not the only sign of abuse, however. She has been shy of the leash, acted frightened of things she never had problems with before (like a water bottle), and has had problems with her hind legs. Sometimes she hasn't been able to potty because she couldn't support herself. Today she had problems walking at all. This is a very well-adjusted, well-trained and healthy dog. Before all of this, she was NEVER sick and was always happy. Someone at that vet must have simply terrorized her. We've seen it in her eyes, her manner, and her reactions. My family has suffered so much heartache seeing her going through all of this, and we don't want anyone else to go through it.
They've saved my cat's life twice with noninvasive emergency treatment. They are very clever and always take into account the owner's wishes and preferences when it comes to varieties of treatment. I would never take a sick pet anywhere else. Dr Flowers is the best!
I thought that the staff seemed friendly enough during vet appointments, so I chose Hog Mountain when we needed to board our dog. Although she'd never had issues with being boarded before, she was sick EVERY time we picked her back up from Hog Mountain. Diarrhea, bladder infection, or both -- how odd! They said that they let the dogs out 2x per day and I knew she was ok for 10-12 hours at a time, so her sickness made no sense. The vets blamed it on her "easily stressed personality". Then I thought to ask about the timing and it turns out it's NOT every 12 hours. It's more like 9-10 hours for the first half and then 14-15 hours for the other part of the day. OMG! No wonder our poor dog was getting sick! Holding her bladder for FIFTEEN HOURS? I was shocked but they said that the dogs can "just go in their runs if they really have to go". Um, apparently these guys have never encountered a well-housetrained dog, because I can tell you that my dog would let her bladder explode before she would pee indoors! Needless to say, I found a new vet ASAP ... and our dog has NEVER gotten sick from boarding since then!
