I had a terrible experience here. I brought my rat here on a Sunday for emergency vet treatment, because I had no other options. I'm certainly not a medical expert but I'm very involved in rat medical groups online that do have experts so I was already pretty certain what I was dealing with, and knew that it required medicine and was time-sensitive. Knowing that many vets are not competent in dealing with rats, despite saying that they are, I brought along some research information about my girl's suspected condition and delicately presented it to the vet. The vet did look over the information but repeatedly said she wasn't experiencing any of the symptoms, though she clearly was. I asked several times if he could just review the treatment options and try something out, but he refused, saying nothing at all could be done for her and I needed to make a decision. He insisted she had cancer, based off a 2 minute visual exam. He also said she was fully paralyzed from the neck down (though while he said this, she was starting to move around on her front legs). He also explained that rats physically could not have strokes, though 1 minute of online research will show otherwise. Thankfully, I did not listen to this vet and took my baby home with me. After getting the needed medicine through other sources, she is doing MUCH better and is walking around, playing, and eating. I'm so glad I didn't allow this man to kill my pet so he could get more money out of me. I already wasted a good chunk just for 10 minutes of his incompetent time. Please, think twice before coming here, even if you have no other options. This vet has no bedside manner and certainly no knowledge of rats.
When we brought in our female ferret for an emergency visit, we were incredibly worried. We only had a short wait, and we found out she had bronchopneumonia. The emergency visit was a little expensive, but they had told us upfront the cost before we came. Antiobiotics for animals are always expensive, so this wasn't terribly surprising, and since she started taking them she has been doing much, much better. We took our male ferret in just to make sure he wasn't getting sicker (he had been sneezing a bit) and all he had was a little sniffle. Because this wasn't an emergency visit, it was much cheaper, even cheaper than the other vets we had called. After dealing with the Banfield Pet Hospital for years for our dogs, using this hospital was still cheaper, even for an exotic pet. The doctor was very helpful, and has put us on the right track for taking the best care of our ferrets possible.
I took my dog to him one night when he's feeling down. After waiting two hours, he came back with one very blurry xray (we were charged for two) and blood work telling me my dog is dying from "some kind of cancer". Then he proceed in trying to persuade us to put him down for $500. (later i heard petsmart only charge 100ish) So we took my dog to another vet, was explained fully what kind of cancer he has, options, treatments, and surgery. Now my dog is on his way to recover back fully. This doctor is money greedy, unprofessional, and impatient. Do not trust his diagnosis.
Briefly: I don't think Dr. Innocent has pets or even likes animals. He is unsympathetic, rude, and rough with sick animals. Our vet even told us not to return there (it has a reputation) even in an emergency. We brought our kitten in who had just had her first seizure. When we got there, she was limp and panting. We were understandably terrified. They made us fill out several forms and pay before we could go back. Not ideal, but I get it. Then we sat in the exam room for twenty minutes before the vet came in. We were the only people there... When Dr. Innocent came in, he first grilled us about what tests she had already had at the vet's, and even said "they didn't give you a file on her when you adopted her?" Of course they had, but we ran out the door as soon as she stopped seizing. He also did not believe us when we told him how long her seizure had lasted, and all he said was "she looks fine now." And she did, because it had been so long since she had her seizure. Then he told us if it happens again, to put her in a pillowcase and shake her out of it. I'm not kidding. Lastly, he tousled her head roughly in a way you would do to a playful dog, not a sick kitten, and made us wait another fifteen minutes while he chatted with the nurse about nonsense. When we followed up with our vet, he told us to refrain as much as possible from touching her during a seizure (not shake her out of it), and in case of another emergency, to drive 15 extra miles to get to the animal hospital in Buford and avoid the 24 Hour Animal Hospital. I have never written a review before, but my momma instincts are yelling at me to warn anyone who wants to go there.
SEP. 2014. My sister and I took my 9yo dog there for an emergency because he was not feeling well and our regular vet was closed. We waited for hours. Finally, Dr. Innocent returned with 1 blurry X-ray, and told us he can not save my dog because it is "some kind of cancer" and our only option was euthanasia. As we were contemplating on what to do, Dr. Innocent started yelling at us, saying we are making our dog suffer for not euthanize him ASAP ($500 for euthanasia). My sister started to cry as he pressured us to let our beloved dog go. I insisted on taking my dog home, and I asked him for the X-rays. Hearing we are leaving, DR INNOCENT STORMED OUT OF THE ROOM. We were billed $600 for 2 X-rays (we only saw 1) and we could not take the X-rays. I took my dog to our regular vet the next day. When i told them what Dr. Innocent did, they just laughed and told me Dr. Innocent is famous for that. My regular doctor was quick to diagnose my dog's illness, performed surgery and biopsy. Turns out my dog's tumor growth was BENIGN. If I have listened to Dr. Innocent, my dog would not be with me today.
