On the day that Dr. Marshall watched me sobbing on the floor with my dear dog that she was euthanizing, she sent me a letter telling me not to return to the practice with my surviving pet. No condolences. Just a letter booting me out of the practice. On the same day that she euthanized my dog. This was my punishment, on one of my darkest days, because I disagreed with Dr. Gresham on the course of care for my 14 year old Lab. Dr. Gresham wanted me to give the dog pain pills (without explaining the side effects or risk factors) when my poor Old Girl just really needed me to let her go. My sin was not only to disagree with Dr. Gresham’s course of care, but to express my disagreement to both Dr. Gresham (after conducting an independent research on the prescribed medication) and on a survey that I was sent a few days after the appointment with Dr. Gresham. On the survey, I rated the staff and facilities generally high. I did not rate the interaction with Dr. Gresham highly and I explained “why” in detail in the comment section so that the survey reader would understand exactly what I found wanting. I completed the survey on a Friday. The following Monday I was ejected from the practice. If you are looking for a vet in the Smyrna area, I would recommend finding one with more compassion. If you are currently with this practice, I advise that you NOT disagree with or go against any of their advice. I have been with this practice for nearly 9 years. Over the years the vets have changed and Dr. Sims has retired. It is a very different place now.

We've only been to their clinic once, but it was a great experience. My husband and I accidentally missed a dosage of flea & tick on our dogs and they developed really nasty rashes presumably from flea bites, on their bellies. We've just moved down here from NJ and hadn't chosen a vet yet. A friend of ours recommended Chastain and I'm very happy with our choice to listen to him. We made an appointment last minute and they were willing to see us even though they sounded pretty booked. When we got there, we only had to wait a few minutes before we were called back. They diagnosed her quickly and efficiently and didn't try to sell us on a bunch of items or medications (like Banfield does for example). She gave us a quote and let us make the decision that was best for us and our pup. All-in-all, a wonderful experience and we will be going back for any future animal needs.

I absolutely LOVE Chastain Animal Clinic, short waits, thorough exams, Dr. Marshall answers all my questions, Im very lucky to have found such an amazing group. I have 7 babies total I bring to Chastain and they always remember every single one of them.

Having recently moved to the Smyrna area, we were in need of a new vet and were referred to Chastain Animal Clinic by our neighbors. We were fortunate to have our dog and one of our cats seen by Dr. Marshall and she was wonderful. She addressed all of our concerns with an incredibly friendly demeanor that helped to keep both of us and our pets at ease. Best of all, she recommended treatment options that were very affordable which is a nice change of pace from our previous vet * cough * Briarcliff Animal Clinic * cough *, who used scare tactics to guilt-trip us into insanely expensive, and likely, unnecessary procedures. Needless to say, we'll be going back and would highly recommend Chastain Animal Clinic.

Friendly staff, Well educated Doctors. Don't let the décor fool you. I initially stopped by to get an appointment. When I saw the circa 1979 décor I thought hmm if they are this behind on décor what else are they behind on? Then I started asking for referrals. After three different people recommended them I set up an appt. Have been very pleased for last 8 years. Doctors know how I feel about my dog and would mortgage my home if she needed something. They have never taken advantage of that and I think they logically think through the process similar to what I would do. I'm very pleased.
