I hate that people base it off looks. I've had a tour of the facility and where they keep the animals is fantastic. They take them out for daily walks, baths, etc. Our dog was 16 and was beginning to not be able to hold herself up. They put her in a kennel that was well padded and even had grip strips so that she would not fall, and if she did, wouldn't hurt herself. We also wanted her with our younger pup, so they made sure they stayed together. I LOVE this hospital, they treat all our animals with love. I wouldn't trade them for the world. I actually drive over 30 minutes just to go here.
I would avoid this hospital at all costs. I am a long time hobby dog breeder and trainer and went in there to check out the facility and meet the vets before deciding to take my dogs there. The facility is a little junky looking when you first arrive, but better places have looked worse, and I wanted to give it a shot. I should have just turned around. The interior was just as poorly maintained as the exterior and the front desk/waiting area was terribly small and practically designed to incite anxiety. After talking with the staff I immediately realized that they have NO IDEA what they are doing. The vets at Brookside are obviously poorly educated and lack the understanding of animal health and nutrition that should be associated with their position. The staffs interactions with the animals in their care were, frankly, quite frightening. I observed one of their new vets, a woman with long brown hair whose name I cannot recall, bringing out a recently operated on dog and she behaved as if she were almost afraid of the animal. She was very timid and did not provide the adequate answers to the questions the dog's owner asked. The rest of the staff is just along for the ride. They're mostly just folks who probably like animals a lot, but have no idea how to interact or take care of them. A friend of mine who has been breeding, training, and showing dogs her entire life was recently turned down for a position at the hospital because she was "too experienced and may undermine the rest of the staff." That's a really great attitude to have. Let's not hire someone who knows what they're doing because they'll make us look bad. Please, please, please, NEVER take your animal to this hospital. There are other vet clinics in CF/W. I have to imagine that ANY of them are better than this one.
The staff at Brookside goes beyond and above to take care of all my pets needs. I won't take my pet anywhere else.
