I want to start off saying the staff and doctors are all very nice and I never felt like they didn't care about my dogs well being. I give a two star review because of their pricing. They are VERY expensive. I have never left Alta paying less than $175. I felt on one visit that the medications that were prescribed were presumptuous and of course they cost me hundreds of dollars and didn't even solve my dogs issue. They were prescribed on a whim of what may be happening and I somewhat felt as if the doctor knew I would pay the bill because I cared about my dog. I researched some online pet medication sites and found the same prescriptions for substantially cheaper than what Alta charges for them. I would say for sure they make a huge amount of money off of pet prescriptions. If you choose to go to Alta, don't purchase your pets prescriptions from them. Lastly the waiting time is also very long. Last time I was in I was in for almost an hour and a half before I finally stuck my head out of an exam room and asked the receptionist if we were going to be seen any time soon. I was told the doctor who was going to see us had an emergency come up, which is fine, but that would have been nice to know an hour ago! Luckily another doctor had been there the whole time spent 5 minutes with my dog, prescribed her expensive pills and I was finished in about an hour and 45 minutes, (and we had a scheduled appointment so they knew we were coming), with $175 bill. On the plus side, the pills did resolve her problem that time.

My husband and I chose Alta for our pets on a whim, and we've been very pleased with the service. The staff and technicians are excellent, and we adore Dr. Sheena Haney! When we had to make the painful decision to euthanize our boy Jack because of bone cancer, Dr. Haney was so kind and compassionate....you could tell it hurt her almost as much as it hurt us, and yet she handled it so professionally. Having all the staff there that day made it that much easier to say goodbye. Thanks, Alta!

I came in sight unseen with a puppy emergency. I was new in Pocatello and simply googled animal emergency and dialed the first number that hit. Lucky for me, it was Alta Animal Hospital. Dr. Nickisch was incredibly responsive, communicative, and assuring. I felt included in the treatment process at every step. I never questioned whether my dog was in good hands. Throughout the day while they kept Bruce for treatment I received calls from the friendly staff and Dr. Nickisch herself with updates. When I came back the next day for a follow up I loved the way Dr. Nickisch was right down on the floor with my pup, checking him out not only for the issue at hand but constantly feeling him for bumps and spots and whatever other evidence he contained from his bad dog adventures. I prefer a vet that's willing to get down on the ground with the dog, pet him and play with him and give a really hands on examination. It makes the pup, and myself, much more comfortable. The facilities are beautiful, clean, and comfortable. I really appreciate that there are separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, makes for a much easier (and quieter) waiting time for my dog. Also, most vets I've visited seem bustling and crazy and loud. The atmosphere at Alta is much quieter and calm, and I loved my entire experience. I now have a vet for all my dogs!

Very pleased with our experience at Alta. Our vet is the most caring, kindest, compassionate person who answers every one of our questions with professional thoroughness. Highly recommend Alta for your furry friends.

Alta is a wonderful place to take pets! I have been going there for several years with my many rescue cats and dogs and have never had an unpleasant experience. Everyone there is caring and compassionate to pets and people. Whether it is for routine check ups, neutering/spaying, emergencies or euthanasia, I have always left satisfied with the care my pets have received. If I were to have one complaint, it is that they just won't treat me. I have to go to a "people doctor."
