My dog Hunter swallowed a meaningful part of a rubber mat, and as it was Sunday our normal veterinarian was closed and they directed us to Care. After making Hunter vomit for a few hours, there was still one large piece of rubber lodged in him which we elected to have surgically removed. We were given a quote, signed, and left. Upon picking him up, Care charged us almost $1k more than we had been quoted. We paid via credit card and left. After being given the run around over the course of almost 3 weeks, I got down to the root of the problem: despite telling us that they would need to keep Hunter at the animal hospital for 2 days, they never included hospitalization charges in the quote. I disputed the charges though my credit card company, and Care did not protest when the amount was credited back to my account. Now, months later, they have sent a letter through their lawyer threatening to put us into collection for the almost $1k. The service and attention they gave my dog was great, but their business practices are shady, deceitful, and potentially fraudulent. If you're looking for someone to care for your animal, go elsewhere.

I have been bringing my dogs and cats to Care for about 15 years. I read these reviews and felt I had to add mine. I don't know which vets were seen, or exactly what the issues were with the animals, but I have had nothing but the best of care for my dogs here. My lab lived for 14 1/2 years with epilepsy, which they treated and cancer later in his years. My cat is 16 years old and healthy. When my lab was very ill last December, they were wonderful. The vet could see we were not ready to let him go and blood workup was okay, so he gave us some meds to try to make his last days as comfortable as possible. When he died a few days after that, they were sympathetic and kind.

Dear Management and or Medical Administrators of Animal E.R., I am writing you to inform you about a major concern I have about your facility. June 27, 2011, at about 8PM I brought to your facility a seriously injured animal which I have been taking care of and was turned away. The animal was in mention is is a wild rabbit about 1 month old and has been under the care of a Vet since finding him. Yesterday the rabbit had cut his arm very badly on part of his cage and had been sutured by his normal vet. Later it was found that some of the stitches had come out with underlying tissue exposed. Since my family and friends recomended your facility we came to you. In the words of the vet staff that met us,"Sorry, I can't touch him or I'll lose my license." Without even looking at the rabbit we were sent away without any bit of help or even where we could go for help. This event disturbs me on multiple levels as a medical professional as I have been an ER Nurse for 10 years and an ER Coordinator for 2 years. Never in that time have I seen such an act of negligence. First off, Veteranarians take a similar oath to Doctors and Nurses in which we all swear to," Do no harm," and to," Protect Health and relieve suffering." None of the above was done. I am actually embarrassed that your facility shares a title that likens it to the profession in which I work. Never have I refused a patient anything, especailly life saving treatment. No thanks to the staff at Animal ER, I was able to find a location an hour away who was able to help and fix the sutures. As it may be conveyed in this letter that I am quite upset about my expeience at your facility and it is true. Never again will I bring any animal under my care to your facility. Also, after hearing about this event, I doubt that my immediate friends and family will either.

I dont know what the people below me are talking about but I recieved EXCELLENT care when I took my puppy there! I got got a min pin puppy and took her to get her ears cropped at the clinic. Dr Aul was fantastic at answering any of my questions and knew exactly what he was doing. My puppy went through no pain and was almost healed within weeks! I would recommend him to anyone I know with pets. Though it was a little pricey...you get what you pay for and when it comes to your pet why wouldn't you want the best?

If I could give zero stars I would. I took my dog in for a minor medical problem and they made me feel like he was going to have horrible permanent damage if I didn't do a $700 surgery right then and there. Luckily, I had a friend who dog had the same problem and was given other information. We ended up taking my dog to AHAH who helped us pursue other options prior to doing surgery. And the surgery there was $350. I'd echo the other reviewers here to say they are like car mechanics at Care.
