I have taken my cats to Dr Hart since 2004 and my dog since I got her in 2011. Every experience has been great. She is gentle with my animals and they enjoy seeing her. We came from a specialty cat clinic in downtown Chicago, so I was used to being charged outrageous amounts and pushed to get unnecessary tests. One of the things I most like about Dr Hart is that she is very reasonable in what she recommends. My cat had a lump on her lip that I wondered about and Dr Hart said that it could be a mast cell tumour but it could also be that the cat had just bitten her lip and that waiting a week to see if it went away would make no difference if it was a tumour. I waited, and it went away. The cat clinic I used to go to would have jumped at the chance to do a biopsy and pathology that very day. I like the calm, wait and see approach, but I also feel she is not ignoring possible problems. I have had very good experiences with follow up, too. When my cat had unexplained weight loss at a regular visit, I received regular calls from a technician for the next few months to see if she was regaining the weight or if she needed to be seen again.
We have received wonderful service at Heartland since we moved here in the 1990s. They have a wonderfully caring staff that has always done the best for all of our pets. They listen to our concerns, and have been very supportive and understanding. So glad they are local.
This animal hospital should rename itself to "HEARTLESS ANIMAL HOSPITAL". For 3 months folowing the passing of my pet, they continued to send me heartless reminders to have her in for blood tests, so they can GET THEIR MONEY. I called each time and politely let them know to take us off their list. They said they would and did not bother. The management there is rude. When I demanded to speak to the owner, I was told that was "against policy" and if I came in personally to talk to the owner they would call the police. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!!!
We have been taking our family to Heartland Animal Hospital since the 1990's. We know that our four-legged kids will get treatment that is second-to-none, and we trust Dr.Hart, Dr. Bajuk, and the staff of Heartland implicitly with our pets. The facility is always extremely clean, and I always get in on-time for my appointment. Each exam is always very thorough, and course of action explained so well verbally and on paper that there is no doubt what should be done at home. Each attending Doctor always calls to check on our family member, and we even receive calls on preventatives that we weren't aware were about to run out! We have been at Heartland for the fun puppy years and mid-life years. The end-of-life treatment, care, and compassion we received for our elderly, cancer-stricken Lab only reinforced why we go to Heartland, and why we will never go anywhere else. Heartland is the only place I have ever been where my dogs pull me over trying to get INTO the building...
