This has been my vet for several years now after I left Central Hospital in Carbondale because I was unhappy with how they treated me (I took my adopted dog there after I got him because he didn't seem healthy and turns out he had internal and external parasites and they treated me like a criminal because of his state). Every time I've been there the facility is clean and the staff friendly. My dog has been there for several annuals, had his teeth cleaned, and also an emergency visit late at night. I cannot say enough about this place especially after my emergency visit. My little dachshund had severe back pain and couldn't move, when I took him in there were incredible to both myself and my dog which is incredibly important because I was a wreck and feared the worst for my little man. I would say their prices are average, and when my dog had hurt his back and that night cost me hundreds (included x-rays, drugs, a whole slew of things) they were good enough to cut me a break on a few things. I'd recommend them to anyone, they also treat some (most?) exotics, and large animals.
We just got back from bringing in our puppy for his first visit. I can't say enough great things about this place. They are friendly, caring, and informative. Absolutely love Dr. Jason, he was so kind, didn't hesitate to explain everything going on, and was so patient! Being a new puppy mom I had A LOT of questions, answered every one of them, very knowledgeable. I did not feel rushed once. Also I was very happy with my bill I was expecting a lot more. Affordable great care.
I had taken my red-tail boa in for a check up, she had a mouth infection. When I called, without asking, I was told there wasa coupon in the phone book for a first time visit - no charge. They estimated that her antibiotics were going to be $20 - $30, when I got to the desk, it was $100. I didn't fuss too much, because it was something I had to get done and there are hardly any reptile vets in area. But it has given me a reason to consider someone else. Other than that, they were very friendly and it was a nice facility.
I called the Lakeside Veterinary Hospital after-hours emergency service to secure humane euthanasia for my dog which was dying and in extreme pain. Without asking the nature of the emergency, they flatly refused to see my dog. Their excuse was that they did not accept clients of my regular vet. Several hours later, the dog died after suffering needlessly. Their behavior was unprofessional and unethical, in my opinion.
I brought my cat in this evening, he was sick lethargic and in severe pain. The vet i called originally said viral infection and never even wanted to see him. He had feline infectious peritonitis, which is fatal to cats no matter what there is no cure. They handled everything very professionally, they called me i came back in they gave me about 20-30 minutes to spend with Oliver, they did drain his lungs and gave him some pain meds and he was acting like my old cat not just laying down anymore. It was hard but they let me be there and keep petting him as they put him to sleep after sedating him. If i had not gone there and kept with the original vet diagnosis, i believe my cat would have died painfully which would have been more heartbreaking
