I must admit I was a bit apprehensive the first time I went to Broadway Animal Hospital. The exterior is a nondescript building next to a antique store. What they lack in exterior aesthetics, they make up for in caring and professionalism. They were recommended to me by a doggy day care (whom I also trust), and I also found the staff here terrific. Great, friendly attitudes. Both vets stay up to date on current treatments and approaches. We were talking about another dog I knew that had Cushings disease, and they were up to date on an emerging treatment that was derived from a chemical similar to DDT. They realize they're in business to take care of pets that are part of people's families. I'd give anything for my dog, but not everyone can do that. Their prices are already very reasonable, but they are also sensitive to the ability for their clients to pay. I've moved from the area since, but definitely encourage people in the area to check them out.
Great staff, reasonable prices - they really love your pet as much as you do! Highly recommended - Dr. Kas is a kind, caring vet.
Took my 2 year old Sheltie here after moving to Chicago from the suburbs. The doctor and office staff were nice, but this place wasn't even close to the place that I took my dog to in the burbs. Sheltie's are a very emotional breed that are very attached to their owners, so when the doctor let me know that I couldn't hold my dog during the check-up I had some concerns. The dog was terrified and she was handled very poorly -- something that was never a problem with her old vet. I'll be taking her somewhere else in the future. As a follow-up. Took her to Broadway again in the spring because I couldn't get her into any other vet and she was having an acute problem. The vet was nice, but he sold me on a benadryl shot and some very expensive ($60) dog food because she was having an allergic reaction. Afterwards I followed up with her normal vet and they said it was probably because of the high allergens during the spring season and I should have just given her an over the counter pill. They also scolded me for giving my breed a Benadryl shot that could have caused (or still can) serious problems.... I'm thinking that they just may not know my breed.
I have been taking my companion animals to Dr. Kas at Broadway Animal Hospital since 1998. He is a wonderful doctor with a friendly, skilled and dedicated staff. I can't begin to express my appreciation for the time that they have spent with me when my animals were sick, or needed to have procedures done. And then the late night calls from Dr. Kas to let me know how my cat or dog was doing when they had to stay the night. The staff has always been quick to respond to my questions or concerns and consult with the doctor if they could not answer. I highly recommend Broadway Animal Hospital.
