We left our dog for a three day boarding. They took great care of her, when we picked her up she was happy, clean, and well cared for. We will definitely use VIP again, and highly recommend. The staff was patient and knowledgeable about our dog, who has some fear issues.
Dave (owner) is amazing with dogs. My dog pulled on the leash and jumped over barriers at other centers. Dave is helping me train my dog (Leroy) and he can't jump any barriers at VIP's. He also comes home clean and tired, he would smell after being at couple of other centers. You can trust Dave and his team with your pet, they take the time to make sure dogs get a safe clean experience.
First, if you have a "bully breed" - I can not recommend Dave and this facility enough! He actually knows what he is doing! I have used Dave as a trainer for a rescued Italian Mastiff and am pleased to have a true dog expert explaining her behavior and using basic training methods so that I end up with a dog who recognizes that she is answerable to no one but me and is not the one in charge. Bully breeds (a name I hate because it goes against their natural disposition), require owners to take their training seriously because they are so strong and opinionated... and fiercely loyal/protective - to their detriment when their owners don't assume responsibility for the sheer size and strength of these breeds. Dave knows exactly what he is doing and as a result, you have a incredibly loyal dog who behaves - better than any multitude of the "pocket" dogs who bark at my dog incessantly. To be an owner of this breed and know that I have total faith in her listening to me, takes all the worry out and lets all the joy of owning such a great dog in. Additionally, to help her socialize and relax around other dogs, she goes in to Dave's "Doggie Day Care" - I have to say without exaggeration, I don't worry for a second while she is there. That is a HUGE HUGE thing when most Doggie Day care facilities are not knowledgeable about dogs; do not recognize when things are getting out of hand (until it is too late); kennel the dogs that require the most attention all day instead of working with the dog to get past the issues and Do NOT understand the primordial behavior patterns present in ALL dogs. Vip's Pet Hotels should specialize in training and taking care of the dogs everyone else won't take - but, if he did that, too many other dogs would lose out from the benefits of having an experienced dog handler caring for them and training their owners on common sense and time-tested successful training methods. (No, you won't be asking for the dog to do something and giving it a million treats... No.. this is not a situation where you're going to look cross and withhold love. This is where someone teaches you the basics; builds a foundation upon which more expected behavior patterns are built and where the dog respects you and loves you even more because the dog understands what you want. This is the dog training world where your praise is the best gift the dog can get - and, btw, Dave is very giving with his praise and affection both to the owner doing it right and to the dog who he probably cares about the most.) If you want someone who is not going to hold you accountable for the responsibility that comes with owning a dog and who is not going to tell you straight out what you have to do to be the owner of a truly well behaved dog - don't go here. Don't waste his time when other people and other dogs would love to find and benefit from someone of this quality and experience. So... if you want to have a well behaved dog, if you want to leave your dog in an environment that exercises them; plays with them and understands them while you work; if you're traveling and want to know your dog is safe... this is the ONLY place I would recommend without hesitation. Finally, he also offers grooming and an in-house vet clinic is coming - Dave is creating what will be one of Chicago's BEST dog facilities. I would highly recommend going here before he is so booked you can't.
I have dogs who require gentle care and when they were picked up and dropped off they instantly took to the dog caregiver. They took great care in grooming them as requested and in my opinion, give very satisfying service at a very reasonable rate.
Love this place. Take my dog here every time I go out of town. Owner is super qualified and friendly. They do training too, which I can't wait to start with my dog
