To all the people whining about this place, what do you expect???? If you are going to adopt an animal please be advised.... THIS PLACE IS FLOODED WITH UNWANTED ANIMALS AND IS PROBABLY UNDERSTAFFED... DO NOT EXPECT SERVICE LIKE YOUR AT A FRIGGIN 5 STAR RESTAURANT... SUCK IT UP, FIND A BEAUTIFUL ANIMAL TO ADOPT AND GET THEM OUT OF THERE... to the people whing about the vets.... YOU ARE AT AN ANIMAL WELFARE!!!!!!... GO TO A REAL VET AND PAY MONEY TO A REAL VET IF YOU WANT TO GET IN AND OUT QUICK AND RECEIVE IMPECCABLE SERVICE... it is like going to the county hospital and then complaining because the staff was rude and the lines were long. In my experience this place has been great... a little rough around the edges but it is after all an Animal Shelter and Rescue that receives animals from all over Chicago. Go check it out and save an animal.

Great Shelter! Very affordable and when I adopted my Cattle dog and Husky mix 3 years ago she had slight stomach issues because she wasn't eating just one steady food, she was eating several different brands. She's healthy now and gorgeous!!! Great Shelter once again

This place is amazing. They do not deny ANY animal at all, no matter what is the issue with it. They do not put animals down unless they are violent or very ill, and they have a screening process to try and prevent adoptions to careless owners. It is very easy to adopt from here, and is very affordable, as is the veterinarian care that you can get from here. Adopt!

Unbelievably terrible experience. If I could give this place less than one star I would. Please take your business elsewhere. This was my first experience in attempting to adopt an animal in need of a good home and I highly recommend that nobody waste their time with this facility. The two women behind the adoption counter are very cold and utterly rude. They were both less than cordial upon our arrival and their lack of customer service and social skills would lead one to believe that they received their sub-standard training from the D.M.V. NOT RECOMMENDED!

Please Please Please do not sponsor this shelter. As other reviews have said, the staff is very very rude. I adopted a 10 month old little dog 9 days ago. When I adopted the dog the ladies at the front desk acted like I was a nuisance to them. This would be my third rescue at the age of 47 years old. Never have I had such a bad experience. The little girl that I adopted has kennel cough which the vet tech said they new when I brought her back in two days later for a check up. What? She has been back 3 more times for being sick and not eating. Each time they ask me what medication she is on and why is she so thin. Check her charts. She got sick after her shots today so I called back and the Vet said: "well that might happen, anything else?" No one cares at this facility. NO ONE. I called to talk with someone and was passed to several people. Was asked every time what do I want. Rude. I would like her to get better, not to be treated like a nuisance and for those working with animals actually to have passion for the animals. On a side note: I tried to donate money ($1000.) from my company to Animal Welfare League and no one can provide the tax information needed or even returned a phone call about the donation. Conclusion. A bunch of people running a good cause that don't care. The staff is very rude and I am shocked by the level of rudeness and lack of concern. Little people skills and a heart. It's a shame.
