Six of my dogs have been through Care in Libertyville, with typically no issues. Routine exams and immunizations. My shephard had a facial injury with severe infection, and they were at a loss. They directed $400 in tests, more in prescriptions, and the injury got worse. The followed with even more in tests and presriptions, yet the problem got worse. Went to another vet and it was correctly diagnosed and infection nearly gone within 24 hours, for less money. The fact that all other routine appts were on time and perfect, it saved them a complaint to the state. In short Care is a good vet for day-to-day exams and shots, but not emergencies or "in-depth" labs/testing.
CARE saved my Sadie, and it wasn't a walk in the park. When Sadie, a Golden, stopped eating and vomited, I rushed her to the vet because I had lost her predecessor, Maggie, after she showed the same symptoms (different vet). X-rays were inconclusive and Sadie had exploratory surgery for four hours as the doctor examined her intestines inch by inch for an abnormality. She found a section that hadn't yet perforated, but was on its way to failing, and removed it. Sadie came home with the cone of shame to heal, but within a day or two her head swelled up so big her eyes were little squinty lines in her head. The pictures are horrifying. The cause was unknown; no drugs worked so CARE put a drain that went in the top of her head and came out the side. It was messy, but her head returned to normal (except then she got dermatitis on the top of her head which cleared up quickly with something topical). I was totally comfortable about putting Sadie in CARE's hands. If there was a post-surgical test or procedure to be done, I dropped Sadie off on my way to work and picked her up on my way home. She didn't balk at going anymore than a dog does at the vet., and she was calm and at peace when I picked her up. I never tore my hair about how I was going to fit her needs into my day. And I never felt any misgivings about Sadie's well-being while at CARE; I knew that all the right things were being done for her. I trusted CARE because I felt the commitment of each person there to do the right thing for these animals and their human parents. And I saw their medical knowledge and skill demonstrated as Sadie went through diagnosis and treatment. I couldn't believe her surgery took four hours during which the surgeon was on her feet examining every inch of Sadie's intestines. That had to be a grueling experience. The skin on Sadie's back split during those hours, creating a scar. When I glimpse the scar under her fur, it is a great reminder to be thankful that we are still together, and to be thankful to CARE. There are differences among veterinary practices, and if you feel any misgivings about the one you have, take your pet somewhere else until you feel it is the right place. If you pick CARE to begin with, you won't have to change.
We love our experience at Care Animal Hospital. Addie our one and a half year old rescue dog is always treated like their favorite. Dr. Morrison takes the time to really explain what your dog is going through and is patient, kind and attentive. They do their best to keep costs down as much as they can. Their hours late in the evening are a real plus for our working schedule. We could not be happier. And their relationships with the local rescue groups especially Placing Paws says how wonderful they are and how much they truly care about animals. I recommend everyone goes their. The front desk, technicians, other clients are all wonderful!
The vets and techs at CARE are always compassionate and knowledgable. I also appreciate their passion for assisting animal rescues. I feel confident taking my dogs to CARE and know they will always be given the best care.
the staff genuinely cares about the animals and the people - they always make time to answer questions and to explain treatments and options. I also like how involved they are with animal adoption programs.
