We brought our young dog because she stopped eating or drinking and had a fever. We knew that there was a $95 visit fee. The vet asked to do one blood test without mentioning the cost. After running the test, he still had no idea what was wrong. He prescribed antibiotics without offering a diagnosis. Checking out, we learned that the one blood test was really a long list of tests and procedures, and that we were left with over $500 in fees. My wife was crying because she didn't know how we were going to pay the bill. The vet was completely unapologetic, and said she should have asked for the cost first. Our regular vet would never run all these tests without mentioning cost, and one blood test has never ended up as a $500+ bill. I believe the vet here is completely unprofessional and gave us substandard care. We left with a broad spectrum antibiotic and no idea what was wrong. I recommend looking far and wide for another vet before considering this business.
I am very happy with the services I received at Emergency Veterinary Services of Lisle. I brought one of my dogs to Dr Smith for a dental issue. Dr Smith is a competent and caring vet. I am grateful to her for taking such good care of my Boy! And she is really caring with dog parents too. My dogs are like my kids and I am thrilled that EVS and Dr Smith are there! It's good to know there is a place I can take them in an emergency where I trust we will all be taken care of.
Unfortunately I just returned from EVS. The cat I've had for 20+ years was in respiratory distress and needed to be put down. I had spoken to Emma on the phone prior to arriving and she was very courteous and understanding. Dr. Rohde was very kind and gentle in his handling of everything. My cat was given a sedative prior to the "procedure" so that it was as minimally stressful as possible (for all parties involved). I could not have asked for a smoother process from beginning to end. As a side note: I have worked in the veterinary field for years and would not hesitate to bring my pets to EVS again if the need arose.
We had the unfortunate experience of having to bring our 13 year old black lab here when she was having trouble breathing. We waited for almost an hour (they weren't even that many people in the waiting room) to be ushered into a room. The vet did not even introduce herself. She slapped the x-ray up on the wall and was very matter-of-fact in telling us that our dog had congestive heart failure. She was rude and acted like it wasn't her problem our dog was dying. We were very confused because it was sudden, and we even had to ask outright, "Can we bring her home?" because it was not made clear. The vet replied, "No. It's a horrible death to die." After that shock, we were given a form and asked what kind of cremation we wanted. We were able to say goodbye, not even privately, just in the lobby, but told we could not hold her while they administered the shot. IF THERE IS ANY WAY YOU CAN AVOID BRINGING YOUR PET HERE, DO IT! They probably don't care how they treat people because they're the only 24 Hour Vet in the western suburbs, but show an ounce of human decency!
Took my 13 year old Jack Russell Terrier in on Sunday. he had been suffering with uvetis for the past month, but my vet & I decided that after all the tests had been done to take a wait & see attitude. He became very hyper and began breathing hard so brought him to emergency vet services. She took his temp, and then decided it was time to terminate him. Never once did she look at his eyes, listen to his heart, or chest.....just decided it was over. I told her I wanted to bring him home and asked if she had anything to help him get through the night so our family could say good bye. Got a resounding NO. Also was told he might have seizures and we would wind up bringing him back. We brought him home to say good bye. Took him to our wonderful vet the next morning, Dr. Sandra Faeh, who spent 45 minutes examining him and told me it was the right thing to do, so he passed this morning. The Vet at emergency vet services was the coldest, cruelest person I ever met. If you want to put your dog down and don't give a damn, go here other wise FIND ANOTHER PLACE!
