Dr. Parker and his staff are nothing short of outstanding. When we rescued a young pup who was close to death they did everything they could to not only save the life of the dog, but to keep us updated throughout. Our family can’t recommend him more if you are looking for a quality vet with an exceptional staff.
I needed to get my two six month old cats up to date on their shots. I called around to several places to get prices and finally settled on Little Egypt Vet Clinic. While it was not the cheapest clinic that I called, I chose them because the woman I spoke with on the phone was very warm and answered all of my questions. She quoted me a price of $56.50 for each cat. I scheduled an appointment with her, expressing that I was financially strapped and I could only afford what shots were necessary before they could be de-clawed (they fight each other). I went in for the scheduled appointment and was taken back to an examination room. The technician didn't introduce herself and seemed to be somewhere else in her head. The vet then came in and informed me that first we would do a blood test for each cat. I agreed, letting them have full control of the situation. They then informed me that neither cat tested positive and that the vaccination wasn't necessary because they are inside cats. I responded, "just give them the vaccinations required before de-claw." He then gave me an award winning presentation on the flea and tick shot the clinic sells. I politely listened to his ten minute pitch, smiling and nodding in all of the right places (even though he went into detail about each stage of flea larvae). When he was finally finished, I kindly refused, and again stated that I could only afford what was necessary, He then got down to business and gave each cat their injections and we were free to go. When I went to the front desk to pay, they told me my total was $212.00! I was so completely taken aback! I was extremely upset but didn't kick up a fuss. I did call back and let the receptionist know that I WILL NOT be coming back and why. She seemed genuinely upset but there was so offer of explanation for why the vet decided to give them the unnecessary $50 (EACH) shot. As if this was not enough, I feel I must mention that neither of my cats liked the vet. He spoke in loud and booming voice and moved things around, banging them about and making a lot of noise, scaring my cats. They were nervous enough already without him speaking loudly in the small room. Overall, I was very unhappy and will not be returning!!
These people are really great. I brought my 1.5 year old female Pembroke Welsh Corgi here, after I had found her seizing (the morning after Thanksgiving), as soon as they opened we were there with her (still seizing) they immediately took us to a room and administered medication to try to ease the seizures. I had to leave her overnight, but blood tests confirmed there was nothing wrong with her that was in her blood (i.e. toxins, poisons). He said it seemed like it was a neurological disorder that caused the seizures. He said she would have to be on medication the rest of her life. My husband called for me the next morning, I was too upset to hear bad news.. I had a feeling it was going to be bad.. It was. She did not respond to the medication. He had given her enough to stop a 100lb dog from seizing for 6 hours.. she was 14.8 and only stopped for 2. That night, I wanted to go see her, but I had a really bad feeling (at around 5:30 or so..) so I just went home to try to wait on news. We had asked him to try to keep her on the medication until Monday.. he said it would probably not make a difference and if she were his he would discuss euthanizing her. I couldn't lose my baby so young. I cried and my husband asked him to keep her until Monday. At around 7:30 that night my husband answered the phone.. it was the vet.. she had passed away at 7:00. She just could not do it. Even though I lost my baby, I am thankful that they tried to help and made her as comfortable as possible. I wish I could have been with her. They are helping me set up getting her cremated and I could not ask for anyone better. Little Egypt really does care for pets, and they do not try to get you to spend money for their benefit, they try to save you money by discussing the best options.
