we bought two black lab brothers.the one dog was only 5 1/2 months old when he broke his leg.this happened last summer and trying to keep a lab out of the water with a cast on while his brother was swimming was the worst! we were at a local beach club with the dogs and unfortunately the one with the broken leg got into the water. so we took the dog home (this was a sunday night) and removed the cast and just placed a brace that we bought from walgreens on it for the night until we could take him to the vet in the morning. THAT STUPID VET did not reset, re x-ray, or anything to his leg and just casted over the brace that we put on. we are not doctors, we just got something temporary, and since she is the doctor, she should have been able to notice that. needless to say, a couple weeks went by and the poor dog was hiding in the corner and smelled horrible and would whine and whine. we finally took him to another vet and he had an infection so bad that it had spread to his bone and it was from the leg not being set and the brace and the fact that it was still wet. so my poor baby had to have his leg amputated at just 6 months old. and they even sent us a bill for what they did. it pains me everyday to drive by there and see people taking their dogs and cats in. fortunately for us, it has been a year and our dog is doing amazing, but nothing can make up for what she did to our dog.
