The most caring and compassionate team of animal lovers we have ever had the pleasure of working with. Their prices are incredibly reasonable and appointments are easy to make either on line or in an emergency they will see you very quickly. I switched vets from Wheeling Animal Hospital and this was the best move I have made. Thank you for loving my dogs as much as we do.
My Mother-In-Law had taken her greyhound Davi to Dr. Osborne for years while we had been going to another vet in Buffalo Grove. When it was time for him to move on (Mom had passed) we found Dr. Scott had taken over. We loved him and his staff and quickly moved "our" gang to the Mt. Prospect office and have been there every since. The love, care and devotion that has been spent with our dogs (present and past) over the years has been remarkable. I would not consider going anywhere else. Our GSD Scout, within a matter of days had a larger than grapefruit sized tumor appear on his neck. Dr. Candace whom we also love, did the surgery. It took her 2 1/2 hours to remove it. Afterwards it was advised that we go to the specialty office in Buffalo Grove as clean margins may not have been obtained. It was a very deep and cancerous tumor. The "specialty" Dr. told us we needed to put him through a regiment of chemo which consisted of 5 weeks, every day Monday through Friday for 5 weeks, being put under each time or he only had 6-12 months. At 14 we chose not to put him through that. It wasn't a matter of money, but compassion, none of which we received from the "specialty" vet. I praise Dr. Candace every time I look at my Scout as 2 1/2 years later he is still with us. A little older and a little slower but cancer free. We call him our miracle dog and Dr. Candace our miracle doctor. Now, our beloved Dr. Scott, this man has the patience of a Saint. You are never rushed and it is ever so apparent how much he cares for each and every one of your pets. Even our crazed 4 year old Harper. I have been to other vets that would prescribe drugs not necessarily needed and rush you through the office with very little or no compassion shown. Not so with this man. He too recently saw Scout for his yearly and found his hips to be very sensitive. He's a German Shepherd and they are also known for bad hips. We tried a prescription, it worked and he's back to actually playing with the 4 year old. I don't know how much longer we'll have Scout, we adopted him at 7 weeks, but his quality of life has improved greatly. We owe that to these 2 Doctors and the staff at Camp McDonald. Yes this was long winded but needed to be told. I would never want anyone else to see "the gang".
After years of misinformation from my previous veterinarians, my 5 year old baby was diagnosed with a mammary tumor. As you can imagine I was devastated and had to seek out the best treatment I could find. I chose to take her to Dr. Scott Petereit and his team at Camp McDonald Animal Hospital. The office gave me and Emma an at home feeling with its warm and very clean decor. Upon arrival we were greeted by an extremely friendly and knowlegable staff. Dr. Petereit's warm demeanor eased my anxiety as he explained exactly what we needed to do to to treat Emma, surgery. Emma had a successful surgery and is doing great! We will be returning to the Camp McDonald Animal Hospital family for a dental cleaning in a couple of weeks. I am so pleased with every aspect of this practice that I highly recommend them! Mammary tumors can be 100% preventable with the proper information and guidance which I did not get from my previous vet. So if you are looking for an honest Vet that will inform and guide you to a healthy pet as well as emergency care, then this is the practice for you.
have been with Camp McDonald Animal Hospital for over 20 years and to say I was guarded when Dr. Scott came on due to Dr. Osborn’s retirement is an understatement. I can effortlessly state, without doubt, that Dr. Scott is the family vet for our 4 collies. Dr. Scott is exceptionally thorough, knowledgeable, caring, listens to concerns and gives you the best information so that you can make well informed decisions. I have seen changes take place that are in the best interest of care for all. I do not make these statements about Dr. Scott without substantiation. Our collie Georgie has successfully lost 14 pounds and the improvement to his hips is remarkable – this is attributed to Dr. Scott’s wisdom and guidance. To see our Georgie getting up with ease and without pain is a wonderful site. Dr. Scott has also been instrumental in helping our other collie, Sammy, who had persistent skin infections. It was determined that Sammy had allergies and now our Sammy is a happy, healthy boy again. The office staff is outstanding -- all of them!! I would HIGHLY reccommend this animal Hospital to everyone.
