Brought our bird to Dr. Sakas with a recurring case of bumble foot (staph infection). Dr. Sakas cleaned out the wound and took the time to demonstrate and make sure we understood the post-op care. Excellent bedside manner, and understands birds well. Very pleased with the care and price.

Dr. Peter Sakas of Niles Animal Hospital is a money-hungry coward who almost killed my beloved dog Mallie. He prescribed Metacam, forgetting he had previously prescribed Rimadyl. Combining the two is the equivalent of ingesting ARSENIC. For weeks, she lay dying in excruciating pain. Also, a shout-out to Melissa, his vet tech from HELL. While shaving Mallie for a surgery I later learned she didn’t even need, she razor burned her so severely that her hair never grew back. My biggest regret in life is taking my precious Mallie to Niles Animal Hospital.

i will always bring my birds here to Dr. Sakas, he is kind and most of all very knowledgeable and interested in helping with a sick or non sick bird. I have been taking my birds here since the early 1990's. Unfortunately my vet (dog vet) told me to go to Midwest Bird & Exotic Animal in Oak Park, IL becasue at that time it was closer to me and i spent a lot of time and money there for nothing and had to end up going back to see Niles An. Hsptl to help our bird.. In short only take your birds to Dr Sakas who is wonderful and worth the drive.

We live too far away from Niles to come there now but for many, many years they were the only vet where we ever took our birds, dogs, etc. Dr. Sakas is knowledgeable, caring and compassionate (as were all of the vets we saw at Niles). Even today (when we have not been clients for many years) Dr. Sakas is willing to take time from his schedule to talk to us on the phone if we have a problem with one of our animals or a question about a treatment recommended by our current veterinarian. Also they have the equipment to do tests on site that other veterinarians need to send out to the lab -- faster results means faster correct treatment. We have been through good times and bad with our animals there and never felt that they were not getting the absolute best care possible. Our thanks for the many, many years of wonderful care that you gave all our critters!
